I feel the same way about Personnas, but the Chicks certainly work for lots of other folks. I have a few cartridges of Vintage PALs- they are readily available it seems and are excellent as well.

It did indeed, yes...and interestingly the art of mindfulness is something I'm trying to build in my life.

The Schick blades do work well for me, I just prefer the Personnas. I may have to try a vintage PAL - I have a cartridge of them that came with my PAL razor.

I have actually never watched a you tube vid of someone shaving either. Not even Fuzzy’s...I did watch the Supergoop vid that Linuxguile posted on this thread a few years ago, though.
I do watch ‘how to’ videos all the time, though. How to reset the chain brake on my Husqvarna and how to service a manual watch are a few notables lately. You’d have thunk that I watched a lot of turning vids, but I actually haven’t watched many. I did watch the Dogcraft resin/wood combo one, which led me to buying the expanded collet chucks.
I have read lots of articles on shaving stuff; it seems to be my preferred method.

Thanks Evan! You will like the scent very much. Although it is considered a seasonal soap, I feel that it could be used year round. In fact, I should use it more often throughout the year.

I am doing well. I am working and I still go to the gym six days a week. I also go to different social events throughout the month to keep me mentally fit as well. Glad you like your new place!

SOTD SATURDAY AFTERNOON, NOVEMBER 14, 2020

The hot button item on the honey-do list SWMBO provided yesterday kept me busy for most of the morning. For some reason she decided the combination glass shelf and hand towel rack in our guest lavatory suddenly became “ugly” after 5 years. The request to install the new one required removing the old which, of course, mounted completely differently from the new one. So spackling, paint matching and painting took most of the early morning. Then discovering that the cheap wall anchors that came with the new shelf were insufficient and required replacement with heavier duty third party anchors delayed things until almost noon. Anyway, thank goodness a great shave preceding all this nonsense and kept me in good spirits.

I'm rapidly becoming a confirmed vintage cast steel Sheffield fan. Yesterday’s shave with my favorite razor, the Manhattan Cutlery 13/16 French Point was outstanding. One of those shaves where one recognizes what incredibly comfortable and close velveteen bliss is. Today’s modern Artisan Riga Razor 7/8 shaves acceptably, but just doesn’t feel as good in hand as yesterday’s 180 year old vintage masterpiece. The heft and balance just seem off. The shave was fine, but that special effortlessness of yesterday’s shave was missing. In any case the outcome was acceptable, and the dome shave with my favorite Shake Sharp Model 1.5 was excellent. I felt refreshed, clean, cool and velveteen when finished! That feeling thankfully persisted throughout a less than pleasant morning!

RAZOR: Riga Razor 7/8 (Mug), Shake Sharp Model 1.5 (Dome)
    BLADE: Two stacked Polsilver DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil.
BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger Fan Knot
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Osage Rub.

Thank you...I was in two minds to buy the Merkur progress or the Parker variant, i went for the Variant purely because i have a fondness for Parker razors, and it looked a more solidly built razor, had a better grip handle than the Progress, which looks slippy on appearance, the Variant also cost less too. All in all, the Parker Variant is a great all round solidly built value for money razor.

Aaand...a mid-month look at our survey-well, not much has changed-Daily Shave still looks pretty good for the W.at 70.8....nearest challenger -The Cookie Questioner, remains far back at 33.3. I'd like to see Jeremian Johnson's caller make a move to proceed out of his gate position and get into the race.

Thank you Andrew. Your correct the Vie-Long shave stick is the old 'Tallow' version of the LEA shave stick. I was informed by a member of TSR (UK) about it's existence last year It's a great shave stick which i recommend. I also like the newer version of the LEA shave stick.
