Happy Monday. Weekends are entirely too short. I decided to break out the 47 SS for a few days. I bought this from Jospeh during one of his den clearing sales. I am not usually a fan of TTO razors. I just don't care for the shaves. This razor is the exception. Three passes with touch ups ended in an automatic drama free BBS shave. A splash of LEA Classic and I am off to help Maya load her car for the drive back to Lexington, KY. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

Shaving recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower / Cussons Imperial Leather ~ Arctic Ocean & Icelandic Moss Shower Gel.

Pre:

Cold wet flannel to my face.

Simple ~ Sensitive Bar Soap + Nuage Menthol shaving Oil.

Brush: Vie-Long Horsehair.

Face Lather.

Soap : Vie-Long Shave Stick.

Blade: Trig ~ Silver Edge. (1) (Green cover)

Razor: Parker Variant. (Settings) wtg 2.5,xtg 2.5,atg + Pick Ups 3.

Post:

Cold Water Face Rinse./Homemade peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Witch Hazel Mixture./Floid ~ Mentolado Vigoroso ASL./ Aloe Vera Gel.

Greetings,

A new eclectic shave set up to start the weekend.

The subcontinent razor and blade duo was a wonderful smooth efficient match mowing through my stubble with effortless ease.

The Trig stainless blade are made by the Treet co in Pakistan i have used these blades a few times in the past and have always had good shaving results with them today was no exception. They come in two different covers blue & green both of the blades have impressed me with their sharp longevity and smoothness. As to say which is the better blade between them, they are the same blade just in different packaging for selling purposes.
The Vie-Long horsehair brush & shave stick duo performed with brilliance building up a slick protective lather on my face in a short space of time creating enough lather for the full shave without having to re-apply to my face to create more lather.
Once in a while i get what i consider a 'BBS' shave, today is one of those days.. A very enjoyable flawless 3 pass + pick ups BBS shave with no errors to report....Finishing to the shave off with a small dollop of Aloe Vera Gel.

My face is feeling super smooth and smelling divine.

Beautiful Fall morning. I arose out of bed early due to an appointment at a local Firestone for new tires and an oil change. As tradition, for the past 30 year, I have breakfast at a local dinette while the car is being serviced. Just had a thought, I should have invited Joe, @Trigger, to join me. Then again I did not want to impact his beauty sleep. Perhaps another time.

Super smooth shave this morning. The Schlick Type G is such an efficient razor. Hope you have a great day gentlemen.

Big Red is the brush. The Razorock F-400 is like mowing grass with a 60 inch zero turn compared to a 24 inch push mower. This brush can cover some ground.

The razor is an OT Gillette that I modified as a tribute razor to my father. The handle is my shortened Maggard's MR7. Three passes with an Astra and I am smooth. A couple of splashes of Clubman and I am ready.

I just wish dad was with us today. He gave the Cub to my son when my son was three. My son has been working on the tractor off and on for two years now.

Much better shave this morning than that of yesterday-Friday The 13th. My luck came back. 0:25 to load the Razorock Shaving Cream Soap onto the Stoylin brush. Ah, let's make it 0:30 as I was having difficulty with a section I missed(middle of left cheek). I got nice lather after the 25, though. The edges of North Porcupine Alley call for me to slow down and I do indeed.....as I described a few days ago, it's like using a regular lawn mower(or in this case whisker mower). Good job everywhere else. 2 passes. No cuts or Knicks, in fact the feature of the shave was being able to slowly and softly proceed above yesterday's cut and do so with no issue. Clubman Special Reserve("Ride Em Cowboy")to close it out. Out Of This World Excellent.

This will probably come as a disappointment to my millions of fans...or was it two
I can never remember...
But I needed a change of pace today. So, throwing caution to the wind,
I chose the Art of Shaving tallow soap, which was originally manufactured by Valobra, in Italy.
Outstanding luscious and lovely lather delivered with aplomb by the Thäter Two-Band.
The oft-used, but still sensational Light Brigade razor blade found itself inserted
in the world-renowned and coveted by many, 2011 Mühle R41.
Riding the scalloped safety bar I kept the lightest of touches and after three passes,
including the much-feared ATG neck pass I was rewarded with a BBS shave
that frustrated Count Dracula...
That means no blood-shed, if you didn't take my meaning.
The Santa Maria Novella Sandalwood is a refreshing take on the Mysore product.
It must have some additional herbs, which only the monks can successfully cultivate.
It does indeed refresh the skin and leave it nicely nourished and refreshed.
Tomorrow, back to Bay Rum.

I decided to use the same setup as Thurs night's shave, except that I am using a differeent brush.
The gear worked well, but I did have some minor operator error. As I landed on my neck, the razor pinched me and I got a horizontal line that was a skin abrasion. I also got a weep doing the Fool's Pass on stache area. They were minor errors and the styptic pen made them disappear without a trace. I was in a slight hurry for no apparent reason and waa kind of on autopilot so that always isn't the best combo when open blade shaving. However, two passes gave me a BBS shave w/o any touchups. After four shaves, the Personna Hairshaper blade is still sharp. Also, I have started to hit the bottom of my soap tub. I still have many shaves until I 69 the tub. Finished with the Stirling Bay Rum aftershave. I look and smell great! Have a great Saturday guys! View attachment 239061

A early morning meeting foiled my plans for a shave yesterday. I simple never got away from my desk after setting down.

That's okay I really like using a straight razor on a couple days' growth. Feels like I'm getting something done.

I was extra light on the touch doing a full 3+ passes. Of course there are areas on my neck where the direction of the passes doesn't change much. More of a 45 degree down one way and 45 degree down the other way, but it seems to help. Ended up with a BBS on the flat areas on my face and a DFS on my neck. The alum was kind so I'm feeling great.

Happy Saturday everyone! Quick 3 pass shave with the Gillette 40s Aristocrat with a new pack of voskhod blades. Such a great smooth shave. Especially with the lather this TOBS soap provides. Great slickness and cushioning/density. Finished off the shave with the modern Old Spice aftershave. Really enjoy the nice floral notes to this one despite not living up to it’s “spicy ness” and of course the fragrance of the day is. “Parfums De Marley Layton Exclusif.” Has a very nice fresh opening. The dry down goes into a really nice deep, Smokey/ earthy and complex niche scent. There is a very distinctive Oud wood scent to this one also.

My highfalutin Thäter Two-Band brush slopped on some dandy suds with big time Yankee equanimity.
The ‘rode hard, but never put up wet’ Light Brigade blade and my 2011 Mühle R41
formed a weapon that should be outlawed in 14 states and 37 municipalities.
Using pressure as gentle as my Thigh Master, I did three passes, one being uphill,
and somehow lucked out with a mug slicker'n @Hembree's Southern drawl.
I finished up with Santa Maria Novella Sandalwood which smells better'n a bacon burger on a grill,
and my mug feels tighter'n the bills tucked in @Paul Turner's wallet.
Tomorrow, back to Bay Rum.

SOTD SATURDAY AFTERNOON, NOVEMBER 14, 2020

The hot button item on the honey-do list SWMBO provided yesterday kept me busy for most of the morning. For some reason she decided the combination glass shelf and hand towel rack in our guest lavatory suddenly became “ugly” after 5 years. The request to install the new one required removing the old which, of course, mounted completely differently from the new one. So spackling, paint matching and painting took most of the early morning. Then discovering that the cheap wall anchors that came with the new shelf were insufficient and required replacement with heavier duty third party anchors delayed things until almost noon. Anyway, thank goodness a great shave preceding all this nonsense and kept me in good spirits.

I'm rapidly becoming a confirmed vintage cast steel Sheffield fan. Yesterday’s shave with my favorite razor, the Manhattan Cutlery 13/16 French Point was outstanding. One of those shaves where one recognizes what incredibly comfortable and close velveteen bliss is. Today’s modern Artisan Riga Razor 7/8 shaves acceptably, but just doesn’t feel as good in hand as yesterday’s 180 year old vintage masterpiece. The heft and balance just seem off. The shave was fine, but that special effortlessness of yesterday’s shave was missing. In any case the outcome was acceptable, and the dome shave with my favorite Shake Sharp Model 1.5 was excellent. I felt refreshed, clean, cool and velveteen when finished! That feeling thankfully persisted throughout a less than pleasant morning!

RAZOR: Riga Razor 7/8 (Mug), Shake Sharp Model 1.5 (Dome)
BLADE: Two stacked Polsilver DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil.
BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger Fan Knot
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Osage Rub.

The soap stick does have a slightly different scent from the aftershave, but they are very complementary. Clint, your assessment of the aftershave was on point, sir! It will be a future repurchase.
