I think the handle of KCG is a shame !!! Totally not balanced for the head. With a light one, King C. Gillette razor is a nice daily shaver. Exactly as the "original", with exactly the same geometry. I'm speaking of Edwin Jagger DE89 / Muehle R89. Here the FrankenRazor Allocco Blu: • KCG head, 32g • Focus Tritok Blue handle, 30g I really love its balance.

Matt at Razor Emporium just did a video on the kit. He said the razor was a decent mild razor for a newbie, but wasn't crazy about the rest of the set other than its potential for pulling people into the hobby.
Yes, the head is just a little different than the EJ 89 heads... Personally I like the handle. The knurling is fine for me and the handle is about the same length as an EJ DE89L (Long). Maybe because my everyday razor is a Gillette Fatboy I'm used to some heft in the handle.
I have it. It's a decent enough razor, but I don't care too much for the handle. I'm not a fan of barber pole knurling, and what knurling there is only extends half way. Knurling should extend the length of the handle.
I've only used mine once but my fingers fall where the knurling is - I never grip a razor by the lower half of the handle - and it never felt like it would slip out of my hand. It's certainly a nicely made, smooth and mild razor and at its price point it represents a terrific value. At $15-$20 it's certainly comparable to a $40 Jagger or Muhle. If someone was looking for an inexpensive DE razor to try out wet shaving I'd definitely recommend this one, and to be honest if this was the only razor I owned I think it would probably give me very decent shaves for the rest of my life.

I bought a heritage as i collect Gillette. Haven't taken it for a spin yet. Figure I'll try it eventually.
Too bad it's not the pre-war tech copy they teased us with all those years ago. A rebadged műhle/merkur head on a unique handle isn't terrible, it could have been worse.

I honestly think that Gillette's next step is going to be introducing a $100 (or cheaper) stainless razor, to go after the "high end/luxury" wet shaving market. If they injection mold some rubber ridges in the handle like they did on the Mach 3, they just might get me to buy one.
I found one locally for €15 and could not resist. I decided to keep it pristine in the box; after all it's likely that last DE razor they ever produce (yes, I know the razor is made in China, and the head is more Mühle like than Gillette lineage). On the fence about the blades in the package; I am curious to try those, but would like to keep the razor NIB as well.
If you want to keep the whole set NIB, you can buy the blades separately to try out. They do sell them separately from the razor. Check eBay and Amazon if they are available in your country.
