Great shave report, Danny! Like the red-themed photo! You’re clearly an honors graduate of the @jluc school of shave photography! Enjoy your day down there in the hotlands!

Oh I didn't know it was SHAVE Photography only. Remember my comment about the power of a telephoto lens? I suppose using that type on a man shaving would be...entertaining.

Barrister and Mann Bay Rum (Excelsior Base)~~Simpson CH3~~Detroit National~~Ogallala Bay Rum
As promised, I am breaking open the new tub of Bay Rum by B&M in
    their "Excelsior" base.
There is no doubt, that the soap lathers like a pro.

This Simpson is loaded with enough lather for 8 passes.
So how does it compare to the original formula?
    First, the similarities:
    Ease of lathering and s
    lickness.
    That's it.
The scent and scent-strength are not the same. This new soap is very mild in Bay Rum, indeed
it is devoid of traditional Pimenta racemosa. :shocked003:
It's still a good soap, but Mike's has now regain Primo's "Favorite Bay Rum" status.
Back to the Detroit straight and this razor can really shave.
Even my neck, which usually remains DFS-ish, stepped up and achieved almost BBS status.
Finished with the Ogallala Double Strength Secret Handshake-Cone of Silence Bay Rum.
    Outstanding juice.

Gee whiz! You got a cut, a broken aftershave bottle and still got nice shaves. Bravo Jeff! If you had baking soda, then I would of sprinkled a generous amount to soak up the aftershave and wipe with a towel. It would have dininished the scent.

Thank you Jason. Ol' Kentucky has bourbon over a woody base. I pick up vanilla as well. Overall the scent works really well with Winter Reserve

    Razor: British Gillette Aristocrat OC
    Brush: Rubberset 400
    Blade: Voskhod (1)
    SS: Chiseled Face Bay Rum
    AS: Aqua Velva Musk

Taking my time with the new OC 'crat. I'm certainly in love with the OC TTOs. Sad there are so few out there.

There's a subtle difference between the British and US versions. The British is heavier and that does translate to a more aggressive feel, but I consider that a plus. I'll need to do a few side-by-sides for comparison to the NEW LC and others.

The CF lathered up really well with the boar brush. I used a little creamier lather than my norm. Doing 2.5 passes I went light and stopped at DFS. The Alum was a little warm but I think that's more a leftover of yesterday's rushed shave. I'm comfortable.

The Aqua Velva was a $3 Wal-Mart purchase. I'd discribe it as a cheap early 80's scent in line with the Stetson era. I'm not saying it smelled like Stetson, but reminds me of other scents from that time.
