Fun fun fun... nothing like walking into your classroom and realize that your steps shouldn't sound like splash slosh splash....

Yup... another leak in the lab. Janitor mopped the room at 3 AM, I went in at 5:30. At sometime in between, the faucet on the demo table (with all the computer equipment) decided to spray sideways....

Hey fellas. Not a fun day at the hospital. The kidney function test was horrible!! First they inject a radioactive substance into Elisabeths little four month old arm. The injection is painful for adults!! Poor baby was traumatized!! After waiting an hour for the stuff to flow through her body into her kidneys, the test began. They put her in a machine that resembles an MRI. But, they have to strap her down tightly so they can get a good scan. Of course the straps go right across her arms where the needle went. The first two rounds are 10 minutes each, back to back. Then they do a 20 minute scan, Nearly an entire hour of her screaming in fright, anger, and pain. Thank God that is the only time she will have to have that done.

In the end, they figured out that the only way to correct the reflux into her kidneys is through surgery. So, at a year old, they operate.

man, wow....I'm pretty sure I'd have to be sedated at the time to keep myself from going crazy seeing my baby go through all that.
Hopefully everything goes the way it should, keep us updated as that time approaches

    Back to school...

I went back to school today. After a year off, from recovering from an accident I went back today. Let me tell you, not fun. Was up at 4:30A and am just getting home after work and a couple hours with the girlfriend now, at 9:45P. I get no summer next year, and im not even really that interested in the course yet.

Do you think I should withdraw? Put the money towards another program? I think I should at least look into it. Other than that, work is good, and the girlfriend is always there to change my day around :)

    Sheeze, man. I can't imagine.

This I can imagine. Sounds about par for the course, some days. Hopefully you'll get some new computer equipment out of the deal, at least.

I'd probably stick with it for a while. I know it's tough, but it's all about setting the routine. It's also hard to say what you might think about the whole thing a month in. "Give it a chance to grow on, ya, I guess," is what I'm saying. But then, what do I know?

Almost forgot the most important thing.

The obscenely huge number of movies I have access to almost doubled last night.

    We joined Netflix!

I'm in love with the streaming feature. Watched Mr. Hulot's Holiday (the first movie in my reviews to get an '11'). I haven't laughed so much in ages. Followed it up with an episode of "The Good Neighbors" which I've been jonesing for for some time now. I loved that series, and the local PBS hasn't pulled them out of the mothballs. I hooked my netbook up to the tv to stream the movie and the show, and I have to say, I'm impressed. There were a few compression artifacts, and it took a few minutes for the show to get started, but man, the convenience can't be beat. I think I'm going to enjoy this $9 a month.

wow, I saw your wife's blurb on facebook that your movie collection almost doubled, and thought HOLY CRAP!!! HOW THE HE11 DID THAT HAPPEN?

Back when we still have video rental stores in town, ya'll still had more movies than both of them, combined....but now it makes sense :D

Wow, y'all are just going to keep at it until I break down and join, huh?

Hmmmm....okay, so, there's the DVDs mailed to you house, internet streaming to you computer, internet streaming to your Wii....if streaming to Droid is included, I just may break down on it....

if your droid can stream other movies then it can stream netflix.

I've been watching Farscape via netflix streaming. Quite good- although it's starting to annoy me that every space-opera villain (firefly, farscape, star wars, etc...) is white, has a goatee, and speaks with a vaguely British accent. It was cool when Star Wars brought in Peter Cushing, but you'd figure the whiny individualistic psuedo hippies (Luke, I'm looking at you) could be the bad guys every now and then.

I decided to stick with it. And kick it's ass. My goal is graduation with high honors. So let's do it! I refuse to let a program run my life! Let's show this school who's boss!

I am sorry to hear that they put her through that. I hope that they got the information that they need to correct things without ever doing something like that again. I am surprised that they didn't use something to put her out, but I guess at her age they might have been concerned about that. Best of luck with recovery and the surgery later.

Nope... all electronics still work. Nothing sensitive got that wet (somehow...). Now all the papers that were out were soaked.

    Congrats!

I wonder how many times we have talked about Netflix on here....

Yup! So which one is Farscape? Is that where the human ends up on a fugitive ex-prison transport ship?

Yeah! You go! That's the attitude!

Hmmm... I watched a few episodes a long time ago and found it to be good. But evidently not good enough to bother watching tv routinely enough to keep seeing it. I guess it is time for another NetFlix name drop. I hope they give a kickback to the forum for all the times we mention them.

I can understand what you're saying, Jim. Hopefully, the new system grows on me.

    Is the Pope Catholic?

Oof. Don't burn yourself out, Jim. Glad to hear your elbow is on a good path.

    :D

Tom! I owe you an email!

That's when you dismiss classes for the day and go antique shopping.

Sorry to hear that, Jason. My thoughts are with you and your daughter.
