I love the Haslinger soap base, but I don't think they are sheep tallow based - actually, it's my understanding that they have switched to being all plant based now.
The Sheep's Milk version (Schafmilch) does have lanolin and obviously the milk from the sheep, but other than that, there's nothing else.
The Meeresalgen and Schafmilch versions I have are plant based and they have excellent slickness, ease of lathering and post shave comfort. The lather is stable and creamy, with no dissipation.
The Schafmilch wins a slight preference due to the added lanolin.
The seaweed extract used in the Meeresalgen is an ingredient used in the Nivea Sensitive Cooling Balm. The puck does not smell like seaweed.

Thanks Andrew! It also could be my nose that can't pick the scent up from the puck, but I don't think do because I don't have any trouble with most of my other soaps. I don't mind spending money on a premium soap, but I expect the scent to be strong enough that I don't need my nose hitting the puck to get a faint whiff. It's a shame because the soap performs well.

Whew. I just finished the honey do lists for the day. I can't begin to say, how much I don't enjoy hanging a chandelier on 12 foot ceilings. Damn I must be getting old. Off to shower and shave. Maya is home for Thanksgiving week and today is her 21st birthday. She wants to stay in for dinner and requested enchiladas and margaritas.

Thank you guys. Maya has been a big help today. We are having my mom and nephews over for Thanksgiving lunch. Since Maya has the Christmas spirit she and I set up the tree today. She was a big help hanging the light. Maya has always been my little helper in everything from working on the motorcycle, reloading ammunition and cooking. She told me that she was the son I never had.

 

November 27

My last few shaves have led me down a "Trac II" BBS smoothness. I'm still knocking away at my Mike's Hungarian Lavender soap. I may have another month or so left on it. The performance and scent of this soap are top notch. I apologize for not being in the picture-taking and shave posting mood lately. To be honest, the interest ebbs and flows.

I have been following along with the knitting circle this month. I've enjoyed seeing all the shaves and participating in the banter. You guys rock. My @MrEE Danger brush is currently getting defunked and should be ready for action in a day or two. I'm debating on whether to pair it with an OC or my Red Tip for its maiden voyage. Just from building a palm lather, I can already tell that the 30 mm two-band badger knot mounted in this wonderfully designed handle will be a joy to use.

In addition to COVID, this year brought us some unexpected health challenges. We've had our ups and downs, but I firmly believe that the Lord continues to bring us through this storm. He is always faithful. Even during some very difficult days, we have made new friends and reconnected with old friends. Family is more important than ever. We've received the world's best medical care mixed with healthy doses of love and prayer. We live in a free country. We have a warm bed, a roof over our heads, 3 squares a day, and we live in a safe place. And yet, this doesn't even come close to describing our blessings.

As we enter this Thanksgiving week, I want you all to know that I'm incredibly thankful for your friendship, understanding, and prayers. I am indeed richly blessed by you all, and it's an honor to be counted among you fine gentlemen.

Going forward, I have no plans to stay on topic, appropriately use emojis, stop posting the world's silliest memes and cartoons, making fun, using terms like mos def without the copyright symbol, posting with @Primotenore's dedicated font, not to mention instigating and/or participating in hooligans, mischief, or malarkey. I will sometimes even be given to song or poetry. As 30 DC Chief Shenanigator, it is my humble duty and sincere plan to trample the established rules as often as possible.



And remember, now is the time to gobble till 'ya wobble.

I feel like a new man after a shower and shave. I decided to break out the Rex Ambassador today. I need to decide if this razor makes the cut to stay in the den. The MR EE #4 brush is a perfect match for the Rex. I used the last of the TOBS St James shave cream today with some B&M Terrorade added to the mix. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near BBS. I hope everyone has had a great Sunday.
