This was the last post in the thread before it slipped into the archive, so I'm repeating myself in case you missed it.

We caught Three Dog Night in concert this weekend, and it was rockin'! They did a song from their upcoming album, and let me tell you, they nailed the blues. In one of the more humorous moments of the night, they did a hip-hop/rap version of "Mamma told me not to come."

Who knew that:

a. White guys can rap.
b. Old white guys can rap.

Not usually one for rap, I had to say, I was floored with the mad skills the lead singer threw down on stage. Crazy man, just crazy.

Apparently, you can teach Three Dogs new tricks!


Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, after we got to the show, a friend with clout got us upgraded to front row seats. The band recognized us from the front row... I know because we also got to go backstage and meet them. Awesome night. As soon as I get a copy of the picture they took, I'll have to share it with you guys.

It's absolutely amazing these guys are still touring. I saw them about 15 years ago and thought they must be at the end of the good years. That was the second time I had seen them, the first being my first "big name" concert at 5 or 6 (I honestly don't remember it).

 

The lead guitarist is insanely talented! He lit those strings on fire. It was kind of funny, though, the airport lost his luggage, so he performed in his pajamas. He had on a pair of t-shirt material pants ('round here we call them "putter pants"), an old black t-shirt, and a pair of sensible tennis shoes. :happy102

Didn't matter, though, he was all grins and he rocked out like he was glad to still be performing. I think they sound better today than they did on all their old albums... I guess they've had 40 years to polish the show. The bass player is a young guy (probably mid to late 40s) and he played lead on a blues number-- I'm looking forward to some more blues on their new album.

Same actor, different scene. It's the one where he slides under a tractor trailer on horseback... it was the first time I have ever seen the scene in its entirety. :happy102 I particularly enjoyed the part where he causes the jeep to do an end-over 15 feet in the air just using a well-timed jab with a 2 foot piece of rebar.

ya know, as cheesy and hokey as that scene was, I still like it more than any other recent 'action film' I've seen in the past few years. Michael Bay, I'm looking at you.
