A great haul, Joe. Interesting that those products came together today as Fine used to say their puck base was mirrored on Tabac. Platinum is a very popular dupe, but I can’t speak to how close to the original it is. Load the heck out of that puck, imho...
PS- I chose to ignore the ‘low hanging fruit’ of the Tabac/Clubman combo... I’m sure one of my colleagues on here with a functional sense of smell has commented already...

thank you Jason.the rfb design was an upgrade in base plate material in order for gillette uk to build 2 piece design new series razors based on the single ring handle design .hence the thicker base plate.they also improved the new lc blade clamping over the U.S version removing blade chatter issues. uk.never had a short comb.all razors using the non three hole blade are considered new series until the tech was introduced..the flat boottomed techs and open combs were based off of the 7 oclock razor .not new series.

 

Thanks for the excellent info as usual, Gary. I thought the New Improved and New Deluxe were out a few years before what we now call the NEW (LC or SC) were introduced? Are you calling them all NEWs? Fair enough.

Riding the safety bar made all the difference for me with the LvL3. Riding the cap the razor felt as if it wanted to catch and dig in.

Felce Aromatica is a lovely cologne type scent where as Fern is just a lovely scent without the cologne type vibe to my nose. I tend to gravitate more towards the less traditional.

Interesting, Jim. I feel the same as you that the Fern isn’t overtly ‘cologny’ but yet is apparently based on Houbigant Fougere Royale, which those who know seem to consider the original Fougere cologne. Apparently they aren’t Brut fans...
