Very good tutorial Joseph! And here I am grinding a boar into a puck of MWF. Will probably not reach the same outcome as you have in the lather dept. :(

    Very nice, Gary!
I have both the SB and OC Traderes, personally I don't really notice much of a difference.
    Terrific report and pictures, Joseph!

Wow! Headshaving with a Rex at full throttle and a Feather to boot!:smiley respect: I agree that using a small straight is very easy to use. Everytime I use my 5/8 straights, they feel so light in my hand that I can zip through a shave. Of course, I don't actually zip through a shave. Lol! Have a fine day!

Thanks, Jim! That’s good confirmation for me. I know you really liked the original model HC&S razor. I sold mine, and will probably do the same with this Tradere. I really need to unload a pile of safety razors. They’re just cluttering things up. My focus is quickly becoming very old restored vintage straight razors. Who knew! Thanks again!

Thanks, Joe! The Rex is my only safety razor where riding the cap works perfectly! If I tried riding the bar, my scalp would be hanging in strips! :signs081:

Now, let's address that, Patrick. I am MUCH more aggressive with my boar knots. That's number one. (They are inexpensive!) Secondly, MWF, is an extremely hard, triple-milled soap, that can give even the most experienced lather-makers issues. BAUME.BE is a cream.
When I start with a new puck of MWF, I grate the soap and press it---firmly, back into the container. Now, for the first few shaves, I absolutely "bloom" the soap whilst showering. If I use the puck daily, blooming will eventually become unnecessary, because the soap has picked up enough hydration. The key here is constant usage of MWF. If, however, it's just part of a rotation of soaps, blooming will become necessary with each use. I can achieve just as nice of lather with MWF as I can with 99% of the soaps in my den. So can you!

I do have the weekend off! Thanks for asking. Did four twelve hour days this week and I'm done. My weekend officially started at 6pm last night.

A much better shave today. 0:30 to load the Stoylin Pro Handle(26mm...kinda big). Some extra loading time was needed(not included in the 0:30).Perhaps the bigger the brush the more extra time is necessary(for slow swirlers like me). Got a good amount of soap spread around-especially the area of yesterday's cut. 2 fine passes. No cuts or Knicks. It gave me an especially good feeling of confidence that the 1st pass was danger-free. As I've said before, I don't like the idea of spending at least half my shave looking at redness. But in fact today, I spent 0% of the shave in this regard. :). Jeeves of Hudson puts out a mighty fine shave soap. All shaveable areas checked out. I did better with the Stephan Bay Rum A.S. today-used not nearly as much as yesterday. No clove issues(all right, well maybe SOME, as the C stuff does exist in there, but it is neatly blended in. Best way to show the perfect blend-don't use too much). This shave moves up to Out Of This World Excellent.
