Yay!! I finally got my new phone today. Was going with the G'zone Rock, but they have replaced in w/ the Ravine. It still has all the same features, and some upgrades as well. Seems pretty nice so far.

So, you guys have been talking browsers all day, huh. Personally, I am stuck on FF. Might just be that I have been using it for so long now. I have not tried Opera though.

    looks pretty cool

yeah, I'm quite fond of firefox myself, but wanted to give Chrome another fair shake, and I still like Opera quite a bit, but there are still a lot of sites that don't have Opera in mind in their design and can lead to incompatibilities, but that's an issue that far less and less these days.

I know that addons and extensions is a major thing that firefox users quote as an against to Opera, as well as when Chrome first came out, but now that won't be a major hurdle.

I would dare say most peoples' excuse is comfort zone. Heck, I didn't give firefox a fair shake until a little over a year ago. I tried it, and Opera, quite a few times, and liked Opera better, but I was more comfortable with IE...until IE 7 came out. Ran Opera and FF a lot for a couple of weeks, FF won out, at the time. Still, I want to go with Opera since it has a good mini/mobile version for phones out, there's a FF mobile that's still in beta, but it's got a lot of rough edges. And like I said, there's bound to be a mobile Chrome for Droid at some point....I'm not normally a "gotta have it all the same" person, putting all my eggs in one basket as it were, but if I'm going to keep my phone and computer data in sync as smoothly as possible, I gotta consider that.

    Anyhoo's, what's up?

Me? I won't be up much longer, just finished 5 miles on the cyclotrainer, as well as a pretty good workout on the totalgym, I'm pretty beat, but I still need to shower and shave, and who knows, I may be wide awake after all that....

I don't get the big draw of the Opera mini phone browser. Sure, if I want to look at 9 micro versions of 9 websites at once and carry a magnifying glass it is OK... However, nothing is set up in a convenient way, whenever I go to one of the mini screens to get a full page, the full page fills up more than the entire phone screen and you are constantly scrolling around. In the process of scrolling around, unintentional links are being launched left and right. When turning the phone, the website doesn't turn... until you turn the phone back and then the page is upside down.... Overall, it is a very unresponsive PITA mobile browser from my experience of a day. I already uninstalled and went back to the old smoke signal method of browsing. Oh, and it wouldn't use Opera synchronization to use all my bookmarks from my home computer - so that was also a waste of time.

and now, to one of the coolest features of XMarks, and why I'm sticking with Firefox until Opera gets XMarks (if they're still around by then) - Remote Tabs.
Yes, Opera has it's own bookmark syncing, Chrome has bookmark syncing, and Firefox has bookmark syncing (there's probably a way to do it in IE, but I'm not sure).
But, that syncing is only for their specific browser.
XMarks will sync between ALL those browsers. Run Firefox or Chrome at home, but have to use IE at work? no problem, it syncs between them all, seamlessly (yes, without the seams).

Then, there's Remote Tabs....ever locked your computer at work, and forgot to save a webpage you left open to view it at home?
Simple, go into remote tabs, choose the computer you were on, and it brings that page into a new tab on your current computer.
Love it! Has been a big convenience numerous times for me.

(wow, re-reading that all the sudden strikes me like it's a sales pitch, I promise, it's not........but if you act now, you'll get not one, but TWO, for the low low price of only somethingsomethingorother....)

Hmmm, that's interesting. I haven't used Opera Mini a lot yet, but maybe Opera Mobile will be a lot better experience? The main draw of Opera Mini is it's speed, by what I've read, but I haven't tried it enough to know yet. I just installed Dolphin browser yesterday, so I'm going to play with it for a few days and see what I think, it seems to be quite highly praised, though I think a better name could have been thought of. Oh well

Well I haven't been around for a few days, and I'm too lazy to go back and see if this was already discussed. Anyway I just read an article on MSNBC about that Cigar Guy dude. Turns out he is just an average guy who dressed up in a costume at the Ryder Cup as a goof.

There was a story I linked to last week indicating it was Rob Schneider; that dufus actor pal of Adam Sandler; doing a promo stunt for an upcoming movie. Just goes to show you can't trust the interwebs half the time. Anyway Cigar Guy is now funny again.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming....

yeah, somebody did post that, Mike I think. It really surprised me to find that out, because as I mentioned before, one of my first thoughts was that it kinda resembled Rob, but I couldn't tell for sure.
    Anyhoos, oh well

    That's when I graduated college. :D

Work laptop (Dell Vostro with Win7) is still doing the random reboot thing. It still had a messed up touch pad. I wonder if the two are related...

Anyway, instead of the usual BSOD, I got a black screen that said no OS found. Woo Hoo.. no wait... drats... Windows is still loading...

I don't understand how I ended up on a board with all these people that are closer to the age of my siblings and I get along with y'all so much better! :happy102

So... just got back from the groceries (pumpkin ice cream run!).. While at the store I see a pack of giggling silly girls all in pajamas and wearing balloon animals on their heads. Oh wait... I recognize them... yup. They are all students of mine. I keep shopping and eventually we end up in the same area. And then the embarrassed giggling really starts. It doesn't help that the mom informs me that on the way over they mentioned three people that they hoped that they didn't run into at the store and I was on the list. :happy102
