Thank you Evan! I appreciate it! I always have said that once you get to the point of being on autopilot, then straight shaving is fun and relaxing. That is only my 21st shave with this razor, but I was comfortable shaving with it from the start. Thanks again for your comment, Evan. Have a great day!

Great video Bill! I agree about the DE89. For me, they're just too mild. I know a lot of people who swear by them. In fact, a friend at work was so proud to tell me he bought a DE89, I had to act excited for him. Then I sent him a FlareTip.

If you do a 7/30 day challenge with one, I'd be interested to hear your results. I consider the DE89 to be the modern BlueTip. They're great for people moving to DE from cartridge razors, but being so mild means you can only go so far with them. However, TTT so I'm sure you can master it.

Two options. I have a parts razor that Keith @Enrico sent me a while ago. It's slightly bent but looks serviceable. I also have one I replated. I stripped it clean, including the red on the knob. I haven't had luck getting red paint to stick. It needs to be etched before it's painted and I've just never gotten around to it.

I'll send you both. You're guaranteed one usable razor and may have enough parts to build a second. Not sure why anyone needs 2 redtips, but since I have 3 right now, who am I to judge.

 

The question is where do you look on a straight razor to determine the gender?

I appreciate your courtesy, Evan. As one of, if not the oldest old fart, in the 30DC, I have the luxury of time for as long as the Good Lord gives me. This wonderful hobby of ours is a great platform around which we share all sorts of anecdotes. That's part of the attraction of this outfit. It's fun to hear about SWMBO's, children, grandchildren, trips, vacations and a host of other topics, some quite visually amusing, most recently thanks to our inimitable Gary! So yes, we do wander, but we also dispense advice about lathering, obscure Gillette trivia, and straight shaving for newbies. What I like most about our gang is that there really is no pressure to contribute if we don't feel like it. The warmth and welcome is always there for former members, current members and those just joining us. So, I guess, just respond or not as you wish. There's no pressure here. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
