    good morning gents.4th installment of the mini fat crat focus.the 4th gen aristocrat.diamond stamped baseplate version,the mildest of the bunch.i keep this one housed in a spare early case as i don't have and don't like the later style bulky clam shell cases..;).loaded with a platinum.built a fine MWF lather with the simpson synthetic,smooth bbs in 2+ smooth passes..twisted thayers and dirty english edt to finish.awesome..had great results with the fat the last few shaves.it loves being used everyday.but lo and behold, back to something different tomorrow..have a fine day everyone..:cool:

    Well, my DX focus is over! I really missed shaving with my regular straights; besides, my DX shaves were exemplary. Time to return to a regular straight, and one that never disappoints is my C-Mon Special 11/16. For the dome I pulled out the Ronson which delivered a great shave the last time I used it. Needless to say, the mug and noggin shaves were a delight this morning. Both my straight razor and safety razor delivered refreshing, clean, velveteen smooth shaves.

    RAZOR: C-Mon Special 11/16 (Mug), Ronson Safety Razor (Dome)
    BLADE: Schick Proline B-20
    PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: JR Rosewood Silvertip Badger #378
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
    POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme AS Balm.

    I do a lot of talking about lather...ad     nauseam, probably, so I thought I would
    post a few pictures of the Barbasol FH razor, which has been part of my focus this month.
    Here, you can see blade exposure and the scalloped safety bar.

    Here I have circled the two areas of the baseplate, that give the razor its unique moniker.

    One more shot, detailing the knurling and the convex baseplate.

    The top cap has a threaded post (see above picture) which attaches to the baseplate.

    Blade exposure is moderate and while I said yesterday, riding the safety bar yielded poor results,
    I would amend that today. There is blade feel when keeping a 90˚ angle to the face.
    I made the lather with a pre-collaboration, all Sabini Morris & Forndran Ali Baba 2.
    The finest knot has gelled tips and for anyone unfamiliar with that term,
    here is a good picture of them when wet.

    When dry, they are somewhat "crunchy".
    No such feeling when face-lathering. Ultra soft and luxurious.

    The Astra SP saw its last action today. It performed well, but had to struggle to achieve
    what I expect for results. Got through the shave with a bit more buffing, facilitated by the
    extreme slickness of the soon-to-be-used-up shave cream.
    Finished with the un-pictured Santa Maria Novella Sandalo.    ​
