I completely agree Jeff. Probably will be very similar myself. To be clear, residents at our chosen facility are free to come and go. It is not a nursing home, nor a memory care facility. It's just a fancy apartment complex with everything included (food, utilities, activities, you name it). While you can sign long term leases....most don't. It's month to month. Dad has an electric cart, even started doing his own shopping. Still has Mom's pet, a 12 year old Pomeranian. The facility doors lock from the outside at 7pm to 6am to keep out the unwanted, residents can still come and go. From 6am to 7pm, the doors are unlocked and there's staff everywhere. It's in a great neighborhood, across the boulevard is a police station, as well as the typical middle class suburban subdivision. Also a small doctor office complex nearby, a Walgreen's, and a Braums (which he shops at A LOT). It's a dead end boulevard, low traffic. I won't bore everyone with how we got to where we are. Everyone's situation is different. Dad living where he is now is the right thing. Tried to be his caregiver with him living with us while Mom was in a nursing home. That....was Hades. Now....Dad's doing pretty well all things considered with what he had going on....and still has going on with bowel issues, eye issues, heart issues, diabetes issues and so on for a man of 84 years old (who thinks metabolic issues are solved with pills, and now past the point where they can ever be managed without).
Thursday's Shave Mühle R102 Voskhod (2) WCS Beacon Synthetic Mike's Natural Bay Rum Soap Dickinson's Witch Hazel Grand Bay, Bay Rum Aftershave Today, I stuck with the same setup as yesterday, except I switched to a synthetic brush. Still testing the Mike's soap, I wanted to see if the synthetic knot produced a noticeably different lather from the boar used yesterday. It does not. Excellent lathers produced on both days. Same exact loading time and hydration routines were employed. This razor is amazingly efficient without surrendering any comfort. Comparing it to other razors in my collection, I'd have to say it is similar to the shaves I get from the Gillette New LC. 2 passes (no touch-ups) with the R102 provided a very comfortable and uber-efficient result this morning with no irritation or mishaps. I may just have to use this razor again tomorrow.
I am familiar with Genco and Cattaraugus. They are fine razors. By the way, Wostenholm razors use Sheffield steel.
Thank you, gentlemen! When I was using Bay Rum this summer, I had no idea it was a considered a cooler weather scent. In fact, my first traditional shave soap was Col. Conk Bay Rum, and I used it for a year and a half straight (with the same razor and brush). I think I'll be fine with using bay rum year round.
I use all my soaps throughout the year such Christmas Eve in the summer and Coconut Lime in the winter. Use whatever you like. Winter scents are usually stronger than summer scents so you may attract stinging insects when using them.
Thanks, Jeff. Modern PermaSharps are similar to other quality St Pete’s Gillettes. Sharp and smooth. I have them in bulk. Out of the ones you listed, most like the Nacets, imho. I have the Nacets in bulk as well.
Sorry about the lousy day at work, Evan. I hope you can keep your team’s spirits up. Love the V 3 OC, too. Such a unique shaver. Such a distinctive razor when you show it off, Joe. When are you ordering your Ukrainian one? Interesting, Keith. Not sure I’ve ever heard of a WTG pass as a last pass with a DE. Your resents seem to be positive, though. You had me when you compared it to a NEW LC, Andrew...high praise indeed.
I sometimes do a WTG last pass on my neck, thats where i struggle to get a BBS shave more often than anywhere else, and it definitely helps. Sent from my Redmi S2 using Tapatalk
Ive been drifting more and more towards tallows, when i finally need new soaps i think most of my soaps will be tallow by then. Sent from my Redmi S2 using Tapatalk
