I have two Boker razors. There is no umlaut over the 'O'. I just saw a BST thread with the name "Böker" stamped into the tang. What's up? Two different companies? I am confused. Anyone have an explanation? Thanks,
I had some. The original Böker is for EU market. The other Boker for international. Now I own just my beloved Boker Arbolito. http://shavenook.com/showthread.php?tid=60804&pid=951360#pid951360
Hmm, I have several Bokers, i just never paid that much attention to the "O". I guess I need to look at them.
There are some differences in the languages.. In Germany they have the following: Ü, Ä and Ö In Sweden we also have: Å but not Ü To explain the pronunciation is perhaps not that easy... Ü is exactly the same as Y in German. Å is actually a combination of A+O Ä = A+E Ö= O+E Easy!
As it turns out, I just bought a new Böker. On the razor itself, it has the umlaut, but it's so faint, it wouldn't show in a picture. But the box makes it pretty clear.
I was curious and checked, there's a company history online for Boker USA, same family founded companies in different countries, gets a little convoluted but impressive how they have managed to survive: https://www.bokerusa.com/history
