Great Gibbs shave, Dave! I like my Gibbs shaves wide open, but you’re right, they are an extremely smooth shaver pretty much through the range! Their homage, the Rex Ambassador, is not a particularly friendly safety razor above setting three for the new wet shaver. Enjoy your weekend! :)

The Parker Slant is working for me wonderfully...I really like the 2 piece design of slants,non-aggressive,yet efficiently smooth...Have a great weekend Jeff.

It lasted for a year and a half (it was the large puck). At the point when I switched to traditional wet shaving, I did so because I hoped I would save money (as opposed to buying cartridge/disposable razors). I was usually only shaving about once a week before and after the switch. Then when the Col Conk puck was near the end, I started researching other soaps and found the shave forums.

'Anytime you use an Omega Pro 49 boar brush your guaranteed an excellent lather'...That i totally agree.;)..The Omega 48 /49 pro's are my favourite boars..On a equally par i also like the 830 & 1305 Semogue boars too, all fantastic brushes once the 'breaking in period' is over. Enjoy your weekend Gary.

Aaand a fine shave this morning, closing out the Phoenix Bay Rum(Boomtown)/Clubman Special Reserve set until its next use. 0:25 to load the soap onto the brush(Crown King). Good sweeping motions. Slow going at the sides of N.Porcupine Alley. A cut developed at S. Porcupine, but it was cleaned up for the most part. Turned out that was the only blemish of the shave. . Solid job along the cheeks&sideburns. Nice and slow across the jawline, especially with the "ice-chipping" action. Cactus Nation was secure all around, save for the NW side. Missed a little of that(course that happens quite often). 2 passes. Good administering of the Clubman to close it out. Super Duper Excellent.

SOTD SATURDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 12, 2020

This morning’s shave featured two of my favorite shave tools, the Dubl Duck Goldedge 11/16 and my Star DE which dates to the 1940s. It was developed by the American Safety Razor Corp. to compete with the highly successful Gillette Tech. This particular razor originated in a box of NOS found in a warehouse in Brooklyn, NY during a clean out where they’d been sitting for almost 70 yrs. The shave is a bit more aggressive than the Tech, and I have found that fitted with a Kai, which I shaved with today, or a Feather, delivers an exemplary noggin shave. There’s really not much more to say other than I retuned the DD Goldedge blade on my jasper stone last night. Stropping on pasted linen and then leather was just the ticket for today’s mug shave. Two ATG passes with the the Star DE on the dome and three (WTG, ATG, XTG) passes with the DD Goldedge for the mug left me refreshed, cool, clean and smoothly velveteen!

RAZOR: Dubl Duck Goldedge 11/16 (Mug), Star DE (Dome)
    BLADE: Kai DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub.
