Obviously the Mos Eisley cantina is an Apple store, seeing as they don't serve Droids there.....

    The Joke Explainer Rides Again!

That's Alyson Hannigan from "American Pie." She has a, shall we say, "interesting" story about something she did once at band camp. (look it up).

The guy is Tony Soprano from "The Sopranos." He's just generally giving her a look of disapproval. As he is an intimidating guy, we are then privy to Ms. Hannigan's finaly expression.

Is there anything from that movie that isn't a bit foul?

    What a lovely weather day...

    light frost in the morning,
left work in full sun and was completely soaked from the rain before I got to my car
and then had a bout of hail this evening....

You guys think that is foul, you should see the later installments in the series.

The only thing more disturbing than the fact that there are more than 5 of those movies is the fact that with the exception of the most recent one, I own the complete set on dvd. :ashamed001

    Guilty pleasures and all that.

Actually, there are some pretty good messages hidden in all the filth.

We are a lot like that where I come from. There are plenty of folks that need it too. :D

How did I get into this here discussion??

Yup no home phone here. The internet is from the cable that the roomie pays for. I think that I would get the DSL if he moved out as I will not pay for cable.

Um what kinda sto???? I guess I missed that day in class.

Well... its Friday. Its been a meh week and will be a busy weekend. But it could have been much worse. Take for example the local sheriff's deputy that got so wasted at the party for the sheriff's re-election he crashed into two vehicles on the way out of the parking lot as he left the bar to go to another bar..... Yup... I kid you not... The Sheriff even had a tow service on call to take people home from the celebration if they had to much. Of course it is all the Sheriff's fault.. blah blah blah politics blah blah blah...

Handmade jewelry. It's really quite nice stuff, and I highly recommend it to those looking for a special holiday gift.

I'm particularly proud of the photography and the staging of the pieces--I helped.

I'm bringing this over from the "person below me" thread:
Sometimes that reason is that their sound is ahead of its time. Several times I've found really great bands that had been around for awhile, but I had never heard of them--mainly because the music I like doesn't get a great deal of radio play--but that doesn't make them bad bands. I had never heard of the Fratellis until this year, and man, if I had known about them when they were making new music, I'd probably have been one of their biggest supporters. Just this week I discovered the Features, and found out they had a few albums from a few years back... it amazes me how much great music goes largely unnoticed these days. Which is why I totally don't buy into the RIAA's claims that the internet is killing music.

    A) very true, there are a lot of bands that I like now that I'd never heard of, even though they've been around a long time

    B) The Fratellis sing? Well, I mean, I knew that one brother liked to sing, when he freaked out Chunk and the other Fratelli brother grabbed him and they took him back to the restaurant and threw him in the cellar with Sloth, but I didn't know they had a band

    C) the RIAA kills more music than the internet; if anything the internet is doing more for music than the RIAA could ever admit.
Now, about the internet killed the RIAA's well padded pockets.....there's a valid, and just, claim there :D

agreed. A lot of the stuff I listen to never made it big (as in, not many people know about them now). It's still good music, though. At least for me. YMMV, rayburn and all that.

    Examples:

    1. Failure. (a really good 90s rock band.)
    2. His Name is Alive. (a really odd folk-ish band that's still around but dramatically changed from its early 90s lineup.)
    3. Thinking Fellers Union Local 282. (Completely whacked out band from late 80s early 90s. Heavily inspired by Sonic Youth but very original in their own right. Very cool band, too. I lost all their cds in Katrina and wrote to them about it- they replaced them for free.)

I think Sloth would make a great replacement for Lady Gaga.

And yeah, the RIAA is just so backwards. If they'd just flex a bit and use some imagination they could make some tremendous profits all while rejeuvenating the whole major label industry.

With the proliferation of ebook readers, if the publishing industry doesn't start trying some dynamic things, we're likely going to see the same things happen with them that has happened with music. Hopefully, they're paying attention.
