Made some matching brush and lidded soap bowls combos for a good friend of my wife’s. One for her partner and one for her father. One in Poculi and one in Walnut. Both brushes have transplanted Omega Pro48s:

The brushes were done to her specifications and I took some artistic liberty to make the bowls match aesthetically.
The techniques for brushes and bowls were similar to what I have described on here earlier.

MAAS is great stuff and it actually smells decent too. I believe I read somewhere it is lavender scented.

Those are Beautiful. Don't believe I've ever seen Poculi wood before. It looks very luminous.

I've been turning for quite a while and have wanted to turn a good brush for almost as long as I have been wet shaving. My son recently started using a DE and a badger brush I didn't use much so I'm working on putting a kit together for him for Christmas. I turned this brush and handle for him yesterday. The handle is actually going on a Roman Empire Shaving Caesar razor head

The brush is a 24mm knot from Maggards set with about a 56mm loft. The shape of the handle is based loosely on the shape of a turkey call that I make.

Today I'm working on a brush for myself with a big 30mm knot

    Critiques are very welcome.

Awesome work! Are you pouring your own resin blanks as well?

Thank you. Yes I pour my own resin and resin hybrid blanks. I pour a lot of pen blanks that work great for razor handles.

That was kind of weird that it loaded chopped up like that.

Thank you. That particular blank was interesting to turn. It was harder than other acrylics I've turned. It actually "sang" when I was wet sanding and polishing it.

After turning the blue and red brush for my son I just had to do one for myself. The handle is a wood called orange agate and the knot is a 26mm black and white synthetic from Maggards set with a loft of about 54mm. I'm going to give it a run tomorrow morning.

    Critiques are welcome.

That's a beautiful brush. Lok forward to hearing how it performs. Never heard of Orange agate wood. Can you tell us more about it?

No critique of that beauty! A few technical questions, if that is ok.
Do you drill on the lathe?
How do you hold the hole? Jawed chuck? Collect chuck?
    Is that CA finish?

    Thankyou.

The orange agate almost looks like a lighter cocobolo. I'm not sure where it is native to but I got this piece at Woodcraft a number of years ago. It is pretty hard but turned and sanded out really nice.

I used the brush today and it bowl lathered really nice. I tried face lathering a bit but it didn't build as quickly as I would have liked so I went back to the bowl. The knot is really soft and dense with plenty of back bone.

Yes I drill on the lathe. I actually have one lathe set up primarily for line boring.

I don't hold the hole. I hold the butt end of the blank in a chuck and support the hole end with a tapered live center.

Yes it is a CA finish buffed out with finishing paste and plastic polish.
