    How's Your Day? Dec. 6th - Dec. 12th

Just had a bunch of family over tonight. Most of them went shopping at the local outlet mall (which I thankfully avoided). Then a big Lasagna dinner - yumm. Left just in time I won't be missing any sleep before what I know will be a long week at work. I get to move back to my normal office area Tues. after the remodeling is done, then Wednesday I'll be putting in 8 hours of driving plus 4-8 of field work.

    Today is BLUH.

Long weekend, driving to Natchitoches for the Christmas festival, lights, fireworks, etc....HOLY CARP was it packed! THere's always a lot of people there, but at least in years past there was walking room....I'd like to see video of what it looked like from the sky, I can only imagine it looked like a large, amorphous blob of humans (and some sub-human...it's always kinda like an outdoor Wal-Mart :D)

Still, good time was had by all, but had to drive home afterward as my wife had to sing Sunday morning. I always love listening to her sing, and there's a few songs in particular that it's almost like the song was written for her. Breath of Heaven is one of those songs.
    Wowza

In other news, I'm tired. Dog. Freaking. Tired. Ain't been sleeping good lately. Why? Well, if I freakin' knew that, I'd fix it

Gonna be a busy week. Daughter's birthday, wife's birthday, gotta work late 3 days this week for stuff going on in the auditorium, etc etc etc.

I'z gonn go hidez now, kthxbai

I've been taking this stuff lately, and it's been doing wonders for my rest. I still sleep in fits and sputters, but when I wake up, I'm rested. It's weird, but at least I don't feel all exhausted.

wasn't there some kinda pop star singing at the festival this past weekend? a local radio station hyped her appearance. I kinda wanted to take the kids and wife up to see the lights but I figured it would be crazy given all the publicity. It would've been nice to finally meet you in person, too.

that melatonin stuff works wonders. I had some bouts of insomnia a few years back and a friend gave me a few tablets of a similar product. I slept really well*

*I was tempted to type "like a baby" but then I thought about how babies actually sleep. Yeah, they're cute when they're snoring but they wake up every two to four hours and scream their heads off. So who, really, wants to sleep like a baby? Not me.

hmmm, guess I missed that part, but they may explain why it was so crazy crowded.

yeah, I thought about how close we were to your neck of the woods, maybe next year that can happen. Of course, that will depend on what my daughter does. Her dance teacher is real involved with the Texarkana arts thing, and a lot of her students end up in the big dance productions up there. My daughter was in The Nutcracker last year, and that is always on the same weekend as the Natchitoches thing, so we missed it last year. We probably won't know for sure if we're going til about September.

Finally setting up the tree.. I am a bit torqued with the LED lights I purchased last year. About 10% of them are out and they can't be replaced. Yeah... that is a real big money savings when after a year the string is full of dead bulbs and in need of replacement. Wish I knew that before I purchased two more strands of those lights last weekend.

man, that stinks. I've been considering LED outdoor lights, for two primary reasons only:
    A) alleged cost savings. I'm not sure how much saving that LED over traditional can give over the course of maybe 2 weeks, at only about 3-4 hours a day can give, but that's not the number one reason;
    B) ability to, again, allegedly, connect some 200+ in a row on one outlet. That right there would be worth it. As it is, every year I have waaaaaay too many lights on waaaaay too few circuits. But, the problem of cost (several times more expensive), brightness (so many complaints), and if you get the wrong ones, irreplaceable lamps. Granted, my main goal is to replace the C9 size outdoor lights with retro fit LEDs, and thus they would be replaceable, but we're talking still $40ish for 25 bulbs.....I have 19 strands of these dang things! Ain't happening.

    Oh well

I also added in to the idea that those LED bulbs were supposed to have a much longer life and not need replacing every year. Huh... my parents still have a strand of bulbs from when they were kids....

Being able to string 43 sets together is a perk as well!

yeah, that "last forever" stuff is a joke, kinda like a car's advertised fuel mileage: under the right, specific conditions, at a certain speed, temperature, smooth surface, constant speed, etc.

I'm sure LED's in a lab, on a conditioned power supply, indoor conditions, etc. would last a long, long time....

well, guess we'll see what happens. stuff like this usually don't affect me, like NyQuil won't really knock me out usually. there have been a couple of times it has, but I was already dead tired from dealing with the crud it's designed to fix, so it had a head start.
Benadryl is my one, almost sure to put me out, medicine.

I've heard from lots of people that use the melotonin stuff, in fact I think my wife got some and she seems to think it helps her, but I really dooont expce t i t toooooooooooooooooooooooooaaijfsssssssssssssssssssssnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn............................................................................................................

huh, what time is it? :D
I'm kidding, I haven't taken it yet, but it's in my hand, and I'm off to bed now, we'll see what happens

While I'm sure it's not what you really want, in these tough economic times one has to do what they must to make ends meet.

Best of luck to you Bill. :)
