Evan, I'm really glad you came out OK on the deal. Of course, the great news is that your daughter and her friend are safe.

Your post is full of lessons. It pains me to think of how that salesman treated a couple of broke newlyweds. I've paid cash for the last couple of cars. It never occurred to me (until now :)) that I could still use financing as a negotiating point.

A couple of years ago, we were shopping for cemetery plots. At one point, we spoke with a salesman on mausoleums. It never occurred to me that it would turn into a high-pressure sales situation. When I realized what was happening, I had no problem *at all* ending that discussion quickly and moving on. We ain't got no time for that. ;)

A Taco is a fantastic truck. A friend of ours held out for one until his Bride relented. She wanted a Chevy. We're long-time Toyota owners...a Corolla, a couple of Camrys, and a couple of Avalons. With the exception of two vehicles, we purchased the others as lease-returns. The plain Jane Corolla with the 5-speed was my favorite. It was still going (slowly) when I passed it on at 325K. My Bride has mentioned the Highlander on more than one occasion recently, so you know what that means. :)

I've never had an F and I manager treat me like this one did. He just had me sign the papers and told me I could pick up my car outside. He even got impatient with me when I looked at the documents to make sure the numbers were correct. They just wanted me out of their sight.

At 1/2 the cost of Thayers .....the Dickinson is my go to . I actually enjoyed the menthol in the new bottle . Subtle and not overpowering.

I noticed that it was not included in your Den clearance. I've got a brand new bottle with an unbroken seal that I purchased based solely on your recommendation. Now I'm especially glad that I did. Thank you. I plan to enjoy it once I finish one of my open bottles. A bottle of cologne lasts me quite a while. I'm currently using (and loving) Aramis EdT and Terre d’Hermès Parfum.

I've been a little clingy with my daughter. I made her sit and watch TV with me and told her she needs to go with me to the store. :) She said, "why?" So I told her I'm going to be clingy for a few days and she should just live with it. If she doesn't want me clingy she shouldn't almost get herself killed... of course I'd rather that than she actually get herself killed so...

As for the high-pressure salesman, I take comfort in the fact that we soaked up his whole Saturday afternoon. I was a young, Texas-raised man who found it extremely difficult to disrespect an adult and he kept telling us not to leave. Thankfully, my upbringing included not spending money I didn't have. It was heart-wrenching, but again, he wasted prime sales hours on me and got nothing. :D

Oh, and I've never purchased a Toyota. I wanted one really badly but eventually purchased Ford and then 2 Rams. We sold my wife's Camary our first year of marriage...

I always check the numbers on any property purchase. If the salesman won't email me the papers ahead of time (most will), we take the time while we are sitting there with him. :) I have found numerous significant errors that way.

It's my first time using this brand. I didn't know they had a menthol/eucalyptus version. It's a perfect match for Proraso Green SS. They don't stock it here. I saw a Dickenson's rosewater version at the ShopRite on my way home.

    Monday's Shave

    AutoStrop VC1
    Despined GEM S/S PTFE (2)
    WCS Beacon Synthetic
    La Toja Shaving Soap
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    La Toja Aftershave

When I can't decide what shave soap/aftershave to use for the day, I tend to pick La Toja. Today was one of those days. Honestly, if I were forced to choose only one brand of soap/aftershave, I would be content with La Toja. LEA would be another candidate for that choice. Thankfully, I am not being forced to make that decision. :rolleyes005:

2 passes with the VC1 provided a comfortable and efficient result this morning with no irritation or mishaps.

Your comment regarding EdTs and EdPs led me to look up the difference. In my world, it has always been either aftershave or cologne. The whole EdT thing always confused me so I just avoided them. However, I was gifted a bottle of Grey Flannel and have been wondering how, and if, I should use it. I wasn't taken by the scent, but have read to put it on lightly and it will tone down over time. Any favorites?

    Very nice, Patrick!

I use Dickinson's everyday and have had a hard time finding it occasionally since the pandemic hit. My bottle is always stocked in the first aid section and looks different from yours used today. I see yours sold in the beauty section along with another variant in a yellow bottle and often, there's a rosewater version. I never did read the fine print to see that there's menthol. Now I may check it out too.

    Here's mine:
