I was born in the late '70's and I got most of these, but I think they missed a few like Darkwing Duck, the Silver Hawks, Thundercats, Animaniacs, and the fact that James Bond was a ginger.

Got the word this morning that my grandfather-in-law (wife's dad's dad) passed away last night/early this morning. He'd been in the hospital a few days, and this was expected, so it isn't a surprise/shock, but it still doesn't make it any easier. He knew it was coming and was ready for it and at peace with it, though, which is a good thing, but no matter how ready you may be, your family never are.

 

I am sorry to hear that. Prayers go out to you, your wife, and family.

 

I, for one, welcome our new Butterfly robot overlords.

Okay, this is cool, and all, but couldn't they have just as easily made it solar powered?

 

What bothers me is that it's available in different FLAVORS.

OTOH, it's just fun to say Pink Morpho.

 

I know this is a long shot, but it always surprises me what people around here know... Anyone have experience restoring pinball machines?

No real experience, but my brother has one and he's done a little repair work on it. What do you need to know?

 

:happy102 Yeah. My Mom has had a machine collecting dust in her basement for about a decade. We played it a lot as kids, but it broke and nobody knew how to fix it. I finally decided it was time to try. I have gotten it functional now, but I am hoping to get it working like it did when it was new. Some of the action is pretty sloppy.

edit: you snuck in while I was posting.

The big thing is flipper rebuilding. I don't really know what to get for this machine, and want to know if it is something for an amateur to take on. Also curious what I can to to liven up the pop bumpers a bit.

 

Not to be snarky, or anything but did you check google? A quick search turns up a metric butt-ton of repair places. I seem to recall coming across a forum somewhere once, let me see what I can come up with. Look for the places where people are big into MAME, alot of those guys are also big into restoring pinball machines.

 

yeah, sorry. I have been ordering through a few of the big repair places and done a lot of work on the machine already. I have even found some reproduction parts for the machine which is incredible, considering there were only 2350 made. I guess I was just overwhelmed with some of the schematics and stuff. Kind of going over my head. Some of the resources talking about doing flipper rebuilds sound like they are aimed at people who have already done them. I just don't want to end up spending money and make it worse. I will check out some of the other forums, just thought I would check in "at home" first

I am not meaning to ask people to google it for me though. Just was checking to see if anyone had some experience I could tap into.
