Ever notice that you usually get an absolute near perfect shave when the lather is fabulous (no matter brand or scent imo)? Today's shave was that....almost. I'd give it a 97.5. @jtspartan's handle with the damp TGN knot and SV's Desert Vetiver...loaded in the oversized tin tub til the soap hit the knot/handle transition. Lather fun everywhere, falling into the SP mug, all over the hand and brush handle as well. Wiped off the puck and container, smeared that slick all over the face. SV lathers so well you could almost lather it with your hand and fingers. The TGN knot was uber loaded after a thorough whipping, but went for building more on the face. No more lather hog when this cloud like knot is completely saturated. Dug out another shave hatchet, the J3Customs Corrosive design. 3 full passes to dolphin slick and smooth. No issues today, even avoided the upper lip skin blemish that wants to see Christmas Day I guess. Today's shave was on automatic....caught myself using hand positions (grabbing the blade by the spine as an example) without thinking about it. Quick warm water rinse...followed by PAA's Star Jelly, then a great vetiver classic, Terre D'Hermès. TDH to my nose is a wonderfully bright vetiver, plenty of citrus aroma blended with the vetiver, a very 'tart' combination. SV's Desert Vetiver? I'm not sure how they did it...but it does give me that hot dry arid vetiver feel (almost like hot sand...but not sand at a beach). SV's Desert Vetiver shave soap will absolutely be a repurchase (or get an extra while it's in stock).

Both SV's Desert Vetiver and TDH...wifey super approved list.

Now....why not higher rating on this shave? Totally psychological actually. The Razor Company got the order wrong. Ordered a matching set of SV's DV in shave soap and aftershave. They shipped the Cosmo aftershave instead. Easy mistake I guess, the boxes that the soap/aftershave containers are in from SV are practically the same color, only the fragrance is labeled differently. Already contacted TRC....will see how they resolve this issue.

This is my Christmas eve morning shave, as I have to work today and was running a tiny bit late I went with my standard 4 pass shave. The razor is a 6/8 Art Razor 'Saga' with a half hollow grind. Sorry about the finger prints on the blade and a profile shot on the blade, it is a fine looking razor. It appears that Art Razor has moved on to specialize in really huge blades now but the quality of my Saga is very nice. The Thäter 2 band and CK-6 formula soap are some of my favorites and performed to expectations. The shave was excellent.

Chanel CDR is one of my favorite frags, it is a combination of florals and suede. I actually prefer the modern version as the older version is more feminine, heavier on the florals and has lost the aldehydes. Still it is a very nice juice.

Awesome shave, pic, and setup Keith! Yuri makes wonderful razors. It's true that I am thinking of an Art Razor by Yuri Kravchenko. Specifically, the Gulliver which is a 12/8 full hollow. I am also not discounting another Max Sprecher. It really is a toss-up. Again, it depends on what my finances are by the springtime.

I really never worried about what I consumed for my nutritional needs. I also don't binge on junk food, etc. Moderation is the key. Hope you had a nice time on your mom's birthday.

Andrew, I lurked on B&B for some time when I started traditional shaving in 2012. The gents there introduced me to Tabac. I've liked it ever since. There was a lot of good-natured ribbing about it there too. It is some seriously good soap. I'm glad you found it. Seems like everyone who is not from Pennsylvania likes it. I've got a call into our Governor asking him to send @Dave in KY back to Pa to be with all his friends.

Great informative post. Have crossed this info before, I believe in The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung. It’s quite the internal medicine biology process chemistry lesson early on. While math was no biggie for me, that just didn’t click as well. Your explanation helped that light bulb.

Head: wtg, atg, + pick ups.
Soap : Monsavon Au Lait.
Blade: Mers: ~ Supershave X 'Snapped in 1/2'. (4)
Razor: Yaqi Katana.

As it's christmas day tomorrow i have done my weekly Wahl no guard buzz cut + followed by a head shave...
A superb face & head christmas eve shave. Throughout the week the katana razor has yet again performed superbly with it's efficient smoothness. I'm really pleased that i placed a order for it now...A great addition to my shaving den and a superb christmas present to myself.

The 'Snapped in 1/2' Supershave X blade has impressed me 'especially for my head shave' with it's non-aggressive yet smooth efficiency another blade that has paired together with the assertive Katana wonderfully...I intend to try out various other brand blades in future shaves...As always the monsavon shaving soap never fails to provide a luxurious protective slick lather.
A wonderfully smooth 3 pass + pick ups close comfortable christmas eve face & head shave with no errors to report.

Finishing to the shave off with a small dollop of Aloe Vera Gel...My face & precious swede are feeling super smooth & smelling divine.

Life has gotten in the way lately! Anyway, have had 2 shaves with the New Deluxe beautifully plated in Gold by @MrEE . Evan is a master. While this one probably deserves to be plated in gold more so than the Goodwill, I cherish them both. I had found this shave a little rough to start, to be honest. Great results with great software but did decide to swap the blade out for the next shave.

Loaded in a PermaSharp and roughness gone. While it is true that all blades work, I would say the Astra SS is not as smooth/sharp as most of my other Russian Gillettes. Was glad for the chance to try it, though. Today’s shave? A little jawline sandpaper short of Epic.

What a couple of days it has been. Feels like ‘life imitates art’ if this thread is art. Joe/Joe posted several days ago about the huge storm and dump of snow in the northeast and I pointed out that we were bone dry in the Rockies. Well, Monday night this happened-

Evan’s daughter getting into an accident and getting a new car? Yup, SWMBO went out to do errands the morning after this storm. She was stopped at a stop sign and a lady tried to turn right at too high a speed on the icy road and t-boned her. Stephanie is quite sore but will be ok. Her 2019 Sorrento might be a write off. Insurance evaluator will let us know in a few days. Hope it is actually.

Son’s 14th birthday today on top of everything. At least I was off work this week to deal with stuff.
Hopefully I’ll get a chance to read up on what’s happened on here soon.

I actually had the Tabac stick for awhile and got great lathers. The scent wasn't horrendous but I just wasn't crazy about it. Sorry, I'd say more but I have to go and pack now

I am going to mix it up, shaving with whatever suits my fancy.

I am going to adhere to the 30 Day rule.

December is my month to focus on one particular piece of equipment.
