Hey kids! The last week was part sadness and part joy. Yesterday, one of our students, a seventh grade girl, passed away after complications from an illness.

On the upside, I also was offered a job as an Assistant Professor of History with the local college. I'm stoked!

EDIT: nevermind, just read the snippet across the street...so, are you finishing the year at the HS, or doing both concurrently?

 

Let me give you a little more information regarding the girl's grandmother who attends the same church I do--

A little over a year ago, she had some health issues that required surgery. She's never fully recovered from that. Then about a year ago, her husband died suddenly of an aneurysm. Then about 8 months ago, it was discovered that her son's wife was having an affair--which led to a messy divorce. Then about 6 months ago, her brother-in-law died rather suddenly. Now her granddaughter has passed away.

I don't know how she's making it.

Makes my stolen stuff seem petty. (Coincidentally, after getting back in from visiting family last night, I realized something else had been stolen out of my truck--a backpack. I hope the thief enjoys looking at a year old copy of my insurance policy and that they get more joy out reading "wicked" than I did.)

 

Nope. One day time job. I should start about mid Januruary. So, Jim, you know any one who needs a job as a secondary social studies teacher? Bburg is a good school with lots of potential.

Missed another total eclipse due to cruddy weather..

Finished the trebuchet with daughter (just a tabletop size 14").

Bracing myself to a trip to one of the places that I don't ever like to go. The roads are icy, the drivers are insane, the shoppers are insane, and the mall is crowded. But wife wants a build a bear rudolph...

 

Lady I work with got FIT TO BE TIED over the secret Santa gift she received today. Did you catch that. Gift. Angry. Over a gift. Because it didn't cost enough. Classy, huh?
