I was born in ‘69, so a few more options. Knacks and Techs for sure. I have seen a few dating charts that show that Techs were still produced in ‘78. Pot metal by that time, though, I believe.
I guess the Schick Ls were from ‘65-‘80, so birth era for both of us. I have enough Schicks already, though.

    Fantastic find, Danny!!

As you can see, King William IV enjoyed a nice shave.

I always keep an eye out for a '78 Tech, but no luck so far. Trac II was making a strong market push by then.

:eatdrink047: Justin Wilson was great. Most Cajuns kind of roll eyed about the shows, but they were not without solid Cajun tradition, entertainment and cooking.

That's the first I've ever heard of Hippo Ivory. Fascinating!

Thank you, Jason... You should be rewarded with sublime shaves by giving the katana some attention. Enjoy, take care. Yours - Barry.

    Very cool score Danny!

I was gonna say if the scales weren’t bone or similar, probably not original. Plastics came into solid play 1860s it looks like.

If it’s Hippo Ivory, that’s awesome, and the whole razor is in pretty cool shape for how old it is. You can see the manual grinding for hollowing and bevel set grind and honing. There may still be life left in it’s edge.

First straight razor? Scatter brain me doesn’t remember. If so, welcome to the Dark Side!

Thanks for enlightening me. In my world, everything tastes great with homemade Italian sauce. Lol! Plus, I would change the cheese to mozzarella.

Thanks Blair. I have a few other straights but nothing to brag about...even shaved with one once upon a time. I have a couple of Dovo shavettes if that counts. I just stumbled upon this one today. It just intrigued me and I normally don't look for straights in the wild.

One of the guys chimed in on the straight acquisition thread and he stated that the pique-work on the scale was period correct.

It is fun just trying to learn the history of this little guy.

    Take care.

Thanks Jason! I may throw one in now and then, but I really prefer cold water shaves.

The caveat is that I would use homeade sauce. Andrew gave the recipe using sharp cheddar. I would use mozzarella in its place. Hey, that's me.

That's a cool vintage straight Danny! Maybe one day you will get it restored and shave ready for you to take a trip to the Dark Side of the Moon.

Justin Wilson was a character! I watched him, Pierre Franey, Jeff Smith and Jacques Pepin on PBS.
