My New Year's resolution is to sit on the couch and get fat.

Things are going pretty well here. I received a fully favorable disability ruling on Monday, so 5 years of appeals and denials are finally over. :happy108

I am already Fat - I need to be getting off the couch more. I got a Wii Fit for Christmas from my Dad and some other members of the Family. Pretty sure that was a hint. But that is OK I am working really hard on getting healthy so I can get off of some of my Diabetes meds.

As for normal life. I am enjoying working again. The money coming in is helping to get things moving and that makes me feel better. I have another job interview next week for a utility locating job. Sounds like a place where I can work myself up the ladder.

Life is really pretty good - even when it is bad.

Thank you, it does. Five years of back-pay doesn't hurt things either. Now comes the wait for social security to figure how much they owe me.

Wishing you the best of luck on the job interview Bill, and nice to read that you are keeping a positive attitude.

New Year's Eve? Going to downtown Buffalo for the ball drop. Should be packed as always and in the forties means decent weather.

New Year's Eve will likely consist of trying to squeeze in that 100th movie.

I'm still trying to decide what it should be.

Obviously, the 200 movie challenge was only a half-success.

It has helped me to realize something, though. I have a really good handle on what I do and don't like in a movie. As was so eloquently pointed out to me by a dear friend recently, almost everything I've watched this year has been a 10 or higher on my scale. I know I tend to inflate my scores a little, but I have genuinely enjoyed every one of those movies. I think it just shows that I don't waste my time on movies I won't enjoy.

or maybe it's that you find something enjoyable in every movie you see.

Have you seen Waxworks and Waxworks II? I recently re-watched Waxworks, which is a typical 80s horror movie featuring the lead actor from Gremlins. It's a bad movie but it's got it's fun moments.

But then, there's Waxworks II, which is so incoherent and flat out weird that it's worth it. It's even got an extended cameo from Bruce Campbell for goodness sake. You might wanna check out Waxworks, if for no other reason than to give you a little background for Waxworks II- but I think you'd enjoy part II. It's a genuine, "so bad it's good."

oh, and if you can get it through netflix check out "the uninvited guest." it's a spanish take on hitchcock, about a guy who lets somebody in to make a phone call, person then disappears and paranoid weirdness ensues. Best movie I've seen in a long, long time. took months to get it from netflix though. oh, and it's subtitled.

I've actually thought about the waxworks movies a couple of times this year. That spanish hitchcock thing sounds pretty good, too.

I'm leaning toward either ending the year with the netflix disc that's been sitting next to the tv for two weeks "Les Girls" or Fantasia (or maybe Fantasia 2000). But then again, there's always Toxic Avenger or Howard the Duck-- I mean, Lea Thompson in her underwear--who can pass that up?

Wouldn't it be nice if we portly gentlemen could become as obsessed with PT (physical training) as we are about razors? My physical conditioning has really went to the hot place in a hand basket since I left the military. Perhaps the time has come for me to work on that and become a bit more active.

I'm also getting geared up for a job search. I have good steady work but nearly five years in, it's becoming pretty obvious I'm not going anywhere with my current company. In today's economy, a new gig won't be easy to come by but you know, the best time to look for a job is when you have one so if it takes a while that's OK too because my current job isn't intolerable. I guess we'll see what we see but I spent the evening polishing up a resume'. The perfect evening after spending all day writing and formatting stuff, I might add.

Gah, I hate December 31st....not the day, but the programming on TV.
All the "best of", this and that, whatever....bleh, it's just another day, quit over-sensationalizing it just because you can't think of something original to exploit today

E: I reckon I should add I don't actually watch the crap, I just hate having to suffer through it when flipping channels, loading the Wii, etc.
