Morning everyone. After 2 weeks, I finally have this cold/bronchitis whipped to the point that I feel half way human. Now, if I could only shake this headache that I have had for over a week. Must be allergic to vacations.

Big 10 was terrible at bowl games yesterday. Texas teams did fairly well. and of course...

    How's Your Day? Jan 3 - Jan 9

This "How's Your Day" thread is in a totally NEW YEAR!

So how is the new year treating you?

It's been a time of self-reflection for me and hopefully something comes of it in the next few months.

I almost beat you to the creation of the new HYD thread, but got sidelined cooking.
    Besides, I can't make it a sticky....

The new year has been pretty much the same as the old one - so far, turd sandwich.

    It's been awesome

Had lunch with my uncle, aunt, and cousins. Then went wine tasting and mentioned I was on my honeymoon and got a free $45 bottle of wine

    Life is grand

Realized today was my last day of break and i'm waking up to a program being due and a health test. Other than that, I had a damn fine shave and a great meal with my brother.

Okay, not sure what the dealio is, but Netflix on the Wii is pissing me off, royally. Keeps disconnecting in the middle of each Mythbusters episode, no specific sticking point, amount of time, or any kind of discernible reason. Sometimes it's 10 minutes, sometimes 45+.
I've watched entire movies with no problems whatsoever, so not sure the problem. Could be the router, but my laptop shows no connection problems.

I'm patient enough and understanding enough of networking to accept occasional connection problems, but the frustrating part is I have to exit Netflix and reload it for it to work again, which leads me to think it's the Wii, not the router.

    Oh well, rant=off

I have been having a very similar problem with streaming Netflix on a new Blu Ray player. Drives me crazy.

Unrelated note, just scanned your avatar with my phone. Cracked me up. :)

I don't suspect the hardware in either case. My netbook does something similar periodically. I usually have to launch a different browser to continue the episode. It's usually on tv shows, too. Every once in a while, it's on a movie. I suspect they're crippling under the weight of traffic, or else my ISP is throttling my data. But then, I do stream a lot.

okay, it's not just the Wii, then

I have no idea what you're talking about....:D

It hasn't happened on my laptop at all (yet), but then I don't use it on it as often. And it does seem to happen to TV series much more frequently.
Watched Iron Man, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and a couple other movies - not a single hiccup
Kids watched Bugs Bunny 1001 Rabbit Tales, had one disconnect, but I clicked reconnect and it went straight back to it.
Watch Mythbusters or other TV series, at least one disconnect per episode. And I have to go back to the Wii menu and reload into Netflix for it to work again.
Maybe the TV shows are streamed or encoded differently? Like a single video file, where movies maybe broken into multiple files, as on a DVD, which may help buffering?

Meh, who knows, it's frustrating and inconvenient, but I guess I can deal with it....for now

What I tell myself is that I watch countless hours of it and I'm only paying 9.00 a month (10 with the recent hike) so I can't really complain too much.

Apparently, no one a problem that someone else can't help...(but they know where to find us ;))
