Great New Years Kickoff shave Andrew.

 

No alterations! The Shake Sharp is unique in that it is an SE designed to use DE blades. It was developed in the mid to late thirties (please correct me if I’m wrong here Jeff (@jmudrick)) as a self sharpening razor for the thicker carbon steel blades of the era. WW2 interrupted things, so when it was released around 1945 SS DE blades were coming into their own. I don’t bother with the self sharpening feature, but find that the thinner SS blade when doubled approximates the older carbon steel thickness and delivers a killer shave for me. But what’s even nicer is being able to us a SE blade for double the number of times by simply flipping it. It’s a great safety razor and one of my top head shavers!

 

Fabulous shave kit, Chris! My first wife adored Royal Copenhagen, and I wore it a lot along with Ultimo, another favorite of hers! Unfortunately, wife #2 has a fragrance allergy, but is such a wonderful companion to this former old widower, that it’s not a huge issue for me.

Welcome aboard Frank ! I have used the Shaverboys with great success and have done a rule with them . Bought them back when I first got into DE shaving and still use them on occasion in other razors I have acquired to guage the difference between blades. For the price you cant go wrong for the quality is darn good for a Chinese blade .
I see you have the new formula Wilkinson sword soap as well. I have one of the originals from way back in my cart days . The new formula changed from barbershop to citrus then the blue container became black. Great soap which smells good and lathers really well too. The Skin Bracer original is a classic that will never go out of style .

Great shave summary and kit, Andrew! I never use any DE more than twice, but also because the shave quality of Feather DE blades deteriorate dramatically for me after the second use! Enjoy your football!

 

It’s great to have a Daddy’s girl even when they grow up! Mine’s almost 40 with two kids of her own!

SSF (no, it's not copyrighted...yet) is a great way to really get to know a product. I have heard a quite a bit, but never experienced the Electric Sheep. I am curious what the "electric" is supposed to infer?

I had been watching a Shake Sharp on the Bay for awhile and after gathering some more info wanted to get it before it was gone. I'm in again of course for another month of shennanighans and shaving. Coming up on my 3 year Anniversary in here ( Jan 23rd) and when looking back I have to ask myself.......How did you accumulate so much stuff in such a short time?
I will not be doing a rule yet but will strive to make use of every item I have in my den this month. Hahahaha. Maybe that would be a better new year resolution.
