Yay... home internet is back up.. I also finally got a hold of someone at the ISP who actually took some time to look into the problem instead of just assuming that I don't know how to check to make sure the modem is plugged in. They are going to switch me from the archaic frame relay format to what they put most of their new clients on and replace that old Fujitsu speedport modem that has been chugging away almost nonstop for 10 years.

 

I cannot remember ever having school cancelled around here for snow, on two separate occasions.

I'd called you extremely hopeful to predict one wintry weather event in a year, and downright nuckin futz to say it would happen twice in a given year.....but I ain't complaining. Didn't get to play with the kids in the snow very much the last time.....gonna make up big time for it today

 

looks about right, although I'd measure in hours, not days.

and I'm home from work. Ice knocked out the power and phones at the church and so here I am with the kids and the wife. and a lotta ice.

funny thing is that it's actually a bit warmer than yesterday. hopefully that means the ice will be mostly melted by noon.

 

That man's brain works in ways that the rest of us can only dream about. I wonder what it would be like if he applied himself to something more beneficial to humanity than comic strips.

On another note--twice in one year?!? I'm freaked out. I think the end is nigh. I cannot believe that I'm sitting at home with a kitty in my lap, watching snow fall outside my window. And we're talking a good, steady, this-might-stick kind of snowfall at that. It's just weird.

Today I'm starting to realize how bored I am of the weather in Victoria, I see the snow in Alberta and Ontario, all I see is rain and +7 on the weather app for the next week or two..or three. Sigh, the greener pastures don't always mean better I suppose.

The joy of winters in Arkansas, one day you have four inches of snow and the next day it melts. Spent the day in the antique stores could not find any razors. It was nice to get out.

okay, so what the crap, CVS?

First, they're opening a new location here (I'm as surprised as anyone, really). The building is pretty much finished - exterior, anyway - the big sign is up, all the markings of being ready in a month or two, and yet when you check their website, it's not listed as an "Opening soon" store.
There's currently 4 stores listed, and two have been there for a couple months (or more), so I'm not sure why it's not listed.

Still, I've gone ahead and started filling out application for some part time work, figuring if I'm already working at one a few miles out from my full-time, then when it opens I should be able to get transferred in.

Everything's going well, then it gets to the employment history part...fill out everything, click Next, and "Invalid month or year" on my start date....
uh........HUH?!?!?!?
It's a drop-down menu on both, HOW THE FRACK CAN IT BE INVALID???
sheesh

 

Sounds like an omen to me. Do you want to work for a company that can't manage a better online presence than that? And it's a big national chain.
