Supply razor is not designed for these blades so that is not surprising. Doesn't mean the blades are bad. Take one and put it in a razor that was designed specifically to use those blades like a Schick adjustable or any Schick injector made 1973 and up and I'll bet you find otherwise.

Rare (for me) drop-in shave posting.

I hope all of you are doing well! I’m not caught up with the thread - big surprise. Nonetheless, I haven’t posted a shave in awhile, so here ya go.

For anyone who remembers “The Weapon” brush, it’s sporting a new look. The clear coat that was on previously started to flake off and seemed to have an odd yellowish look to it. During some time off over the holiday season, it got a forced patina. Then I used a sanding/polishing sponge to remove a little to create highlights. To finish, a coat of renaissance wax. Maybe not exactly, but it closely resembles the finish of the Charcoal Goods razor that had the same treatment done to it awhile back.

Whether the knot that was reinstalled into “The Weapon” stays is up in the air. Nice and soft, for sure. But, it’s such a lather hog. I have a hunch that a synthetic knot will replace this one sometime down the road.

Lately, I’ve been hitting the soap samples pretty hard again. There are still a handful of shaves left with Oleo Soapworks “Excursion”, which is a nice soap base, and a delightful scent. I’d say that I’ve had at least two solid weeks of shaves with the Oleo sample. Generous sized, indeed. Decided on a detour today, just for the sake of variety. Declaration Grooming “Dirtyver” was just the ticket for today.

No drama. Just a smooth and relaxing shave.

    SRS Shave # 442

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Drew Dick 7/8” Quarter Hollow Purple Heartwood
Brush: Wolf Whiskers 24 mm Maggard Tux Synthetic
    Lather: Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux YRP
    Aftershave: Chatillon Lux YRP Toner
    Additional Care:
    Barbero Alum Block
    Stirling Tea Tree Witch Hazel
Superb shave with a wonderful scented soap and toner. Every time I use the DG/CL YRP I become more impressed with the overall quality of this product. It continues to grow on me. Will it be a repurchase? That will depend on the availability and feedback from uses who have purchased the “newer version” produced by Declaration Grooming.

    Have a great day gentlemen

Ah grasshopper, as a MOLC apprentice in good standing, you need to start developing a host of “limiting maladies”. On page 63 of the MOLC Manual, there are 3 new deferral techniques you need to master!
    1. Absolutely, dear, it’s on the list as soon as this (shoulder in your case or whatever potential physical malady is handy) eases up a bit. Let’s talk about it in a day or two!
2.Gee, sweetheart, I’ll get right on it after I get back from my ....
    3. Oh right, honey, I’m sorry but I’ve been caught up trying to help ( substitute any fellow MOLC member’s name) deal with ( substitute plausible issue).

Remember it’s important to begin cultivating this notion of slowly increasing forgetfulness as you also begin increasing socialization opportunities with other MOLC members! Start getting those breakfasts and lunches scheduled! ;)

Yup, getting close. The plan is to turn in my Notification of Retirement form week after next. I plan to take most of the month of February off, return on March 8th to finalize any paperwork, throw away my steel toe boots and hard hat. I don't know if I'm 90% excited and 10% nervous or 90% nervous and 10% excited. It'll definitely be a big change.
The brush looks amazing! Great job, Bruce!

Cella PS, SC, ASB, AS - Red
    Zenith Boar
    Feather AC DX (Kamisori style)
    Schick Proline B-30 (1)

All the Cella love lately....just itching to use mine. Cella shaving cream and after shave lotion was an early wet shaving purchase, both are nearing 2 years old according to purchase receipts, no sign of any fragrance degradation or color change with the cream in the tub. Cella's pre-shave gel and after shave balm was an enabled purchase by Andrew (@Linuxguile) a couple months later once I found them in stock. All these options from Cella are very nice quality, could easily be a daily driver for shaving if I wasn't a fraghead for the variety of aromas. Super slick and thick bowl lather from the Zenith Boar, it's an olive wood handle. Slightly stiff with it's loft being shorter than my other boar knots, has a nice scrub while continuing to build lather on the face, no scritch. Cella's lather is everything needed for shaving, lots of cushion with a great face feel. Wanted a super easy shave today after the slight glitch with yesterday's Rigarazor outing, so the Feather AC DX blade holder was chosen. This razor originally had scales, but I took them off and wrapped the handle with leather cord to make a kamisori style tool. Loaded with a fresh Proline blade, 2 passes to BBS results, 1 tiny lip dot. Love using this tool now, but early on it was an unforgiving vampire. For me...it requires a super low shaving angle, the spine barely off the skin surface, and controlled momentum as the blade lands/skims the lather skin junction to get it's work done. It's super diminutive size is fun to maneuver, easily taking on even the tiniest of areas under the nostril shadows. Once done, about 1/2 teaspoon of after shave gel, a thin tan cream makes the skin feel very nice. Followed the gel with the set's matching aftershave, has very nice longevity for me. Definitely in the same almond 'marzipan' fragrance category as all the other Cella Red products, the after shave lotion has an added barbershop/clean aroma finish after dry down that is very pleasant. Wifey and family approved.

Hope everyone has a Terrific Thursday!
