This is rather appealing. I'm having a hard time believing that price.

Anybody got any good advice on mattress shopping? Planning to take some of the income tax return to buy a new full-sized mattress--it's been so long since I've bought a mattress, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. I'm looking to keep it in the $500 to $600 range if at all possible.

Actually laying down on them and making sure to get at least a 10 year warrenty are both important. I'm sure you'll read online reviews for quality or company specific issues. At that price, you could consider a sleep number for which opinions differ greatly.

I know it's a pig in a poke, but this is looking pretty tempting... and it has excellent reviews.

I think sams has some mattresses like that, not sure about prices or quality, but I think that they're Serta

I know most memory foam materesses are very hot, so I wonder how well the special foam in that works.

I'm so sorry gents, but in my desperate need for a laugh, I got a giggle from these two posts combined for "very hot" "pig in a poke "

I dunno, we have a 2 inch memory foam topper on our current mattress, and I haven't noticed heat being too big of an issue. I wonder if the different thickness would be that big of a difference.

For what it's worth .. Jeff and I bought a full memory foam mattress and hated it .. it was too hot and too firm. We ended up with a mattress from Ikea ... which once the snoring starts .. one of head's off to the off brand Badcock mattress that occupies the spare bedroom.

Memory foam is a great idea... IMO ..but the reality is, it's hot and firm, again IMO. BUT YMMV :D

y'all just do what you do, and do it well.
    just sayin' "thanks"

in other news, reckon officials around my parts are a big trigger-happy all the sudden?

in years past, the slightest announcement of the tiniest bit of snow, either verifiable or just speculatory "it could happen", results in the grocery stores being immediately filled by all the people you know, and a lot of people you never even knew lived in your town.
Good luck getting bottled water, milk, bread, or cheese.

Businesses and schools, however, wait for justifiable cause to cancel. and it's understandable, I agree with the process, even if it's "inefficient" for the ones that want to know the night before so they can try to sleep uninterrupted.
But, you don't want to cancel and it not do anything, or not enough to be dangerous, at least not anymore than rain would be.

Now, facing our third, yes, third! snow event within the month - I can't even recall a time when this area, in which I've lived 33 years, ever got three separate snow events in the same year - it sounds as if many of the school's in the area already had their mind made up last night to call it today.

Of course, they waited til this morning to announce it though.....

I cannot believe we've canceled school a 3rd time. I'm sitting here watching the snow fall outside with my kitty in my lap, and I'm absolutely bewildered. Absolutely phenomenal. I'd be even more excited if all these extra snow days didn't mean that we'd have to go later into the summer.

yours is snow? we're getting 99% sleet here. I'm betting school officials are kicking themselves right now....

it's still above freezing, barely even any accumulation on the cars, not really anything.

I told you they were trigger happy :D

My wife came home last night from that night sky/astronomy thing TISD has done the past couple of years, she said one of the assistant superintendents was saying they've already pretty much decided they were going to call it last night, and that it would be bad and miss two days, etc....

I told her "crap, he jinxed it"

and unless it really starts snowing/icing/sleeting/freezing soon, it'll be one of the many times I was right, but didn't want to be :ashamed001

I'm not sure if it's sleet or snow--it's too fine to tell. But yeah, no real accumulation. We should probably have had school today, but I'm not going to complain about having another day off.
