Okay, first off, I gotta admit, I'm interested in a tablet PC. Heck, for awhile I even considered the possibility of owning an Ipad. But I also knew it wouldn't be long before the Android tablets were ready to hit the market. Heck (again), I even have a (sorta) Android tablet in the Novel.
Now HP has officially unveiled their Touchpad, and Blackberry has their tablet coming out....all the major players are getting in the game.

However, besides the cool factor, and convenience for web surfing, light emailing, etc, I'm still not seeing a major use for them.

Yes, I want one...but then, I'm drawn to techie things, it's part of who I am.

But really, when Apple announced the Ipad and called it a "game changer", I thought two things; A) yeah, right; and B) because it's shiny and made by Apple, he's right.

This thing is really less of "tech fulfilling a need" and more of "tech trying to create a need". Which, I guess is about half of what tech is all about. I mean, do we really need gaming systems? MP3 players? Cell phones? TVs?

No, but since they're available, do we need them? Yeup. Sure do.

Why am I even talking about this?

Because now I can't decide if I want an Android tablet or HP/Palm tablet more.......:happy097:happy097:happy097

Seriously, my 6 year old Palm Tungsten T5 has a much, much slower processor, less memory, and old battery, and older technology than my Droid 2, but yet often feels snappier and more responsive than my phone.
True, it does less, meaning it's resources are dedicated to the one thing I'm doing on it, whereas the phone is handling calls, texts, emails, weather updates, social updates, Live background, music, bluetooth, wifi, games, internet......

But yet, I can't help but think the HP/Palm solution may just be the way to go, maybe.
I mean, there's the full potential to be a all-in-one ecosystem, sort of like Apple. You've got phones, tablets, computers, printers (ooh, HP - 1, Apple - 0 :D), that could all work together seamlessly. And, the WebOS was awesome before Android and iOS.

Still, you gotta think with the power of Google (both in terms of Google's seeming omnipresence, as well as their finances), that even though they're the newcomer to the hardware area, as versus HP and Apple, with Linux-y goodness under the hood, the same, if not better, without-the-seams experience is possible.

And yet, it's all still unnecessary.......but I still want it. :rofl
