Really? I'm probably one of the worst people you could've asked about a soap. :D
I like the scent a lot. It's a dark and dirty vetiver, hence the name. Very earthy... To my nose, it reminds me of the scent of a forest floor after a rain. Quitey mossy. If you like a dark vetiver, as opposed to the brighter styles, this would be a fine choice. How something can be described as dirty, yet still seem "clean" is an odd concept - but, that's my best explanation.
The soap is in the Icarus base. Excellent formula. Easy to lather and is very thirsty. It ticks all the boxes on performance metrics. IIRC, this scent has been discontinued. Hard to say if he'll ever re-release it, or if it'll stay in the archives for good.

I used to take my Mom to get her hair shampooed and permed when she hurt her arm, then elbow. They'd fix her up to look like the two here.

Our daughter turned 30 a couple of months ago. Putting her through college is behind us now. Eight or nine years ago when the housing market was down we were in a position that we were able to buy her and her husband a small starter home to give them an extra little boost getting started. Our hard work has paid off.

Good morning gents..the Friday shave..1965 Brit flaretip/Nacet did the job required.bbs in 2+ smooth passes. No variation in my technique.Blade still feels fine on it's 3rd go.Will try a 4th with it.Did the first blade start dying at 3 because of the tech razor? Not sure, not really bothered.Stretching blade and software life isn't on my to do list.Fine Gillette Pure lather built by the Eveready 89 synthetic reknot brush, but i don't like it as much as the Salter cream, just seems mundane..Finished off with the Nivea blue aftershave.Awesome..Have a fabulous Friday everyone..

For some of those who haven't seen the setup....reused image from June 2019. It's not changed much other than additions to the brush collection, considering a second story addition to accommodate them all at once....

That's a beautiful collection of brushes, Blair, and a fantastic way to store them. Please tell us more about the rack itself and where you obtained it. Did you add the colorful / protective sleeves on the "fingers" holding the brushes?

Friday January 8th Shave. Today the Gillette tuckaway razor was supposed to arrive but is unfortunately delayed along with another package that is roughly 5 days delayed. go figure with the postal service. Anyway I let my hair grow out for a week before I shaved it off. once again the red tip never let me down and got pretty close to BBS for removing 7 days of growth. There was a little irritation because I didn't change the blade, no biggie though, that irritation has went away now. No blood surprisingly which I will give it that. I would have let the "beard" grow out longer but I have to be at the recruiting office early in the morning tomorrow and everyone is expected to be clean shaven.I could decide to be stupid and not shave and be prepared to get smoked for not shaving but quite honestly I am not going to do that, just not in the mood for a smoke session. :D IMG_20210108_122040.jpg

A question for anyone that is handier with tools than me. That includes all of you. :)

I would like to put a 24 mm boar knot in my LE brush handle. There are some Omega brushes I can use for harvesting a knot, or I can take my chances on purchasing a knot from a couple of different on-line vendors.

I figure it would be a easier to remove a glued-in knot from a wooden handle since plastic is more durable. I thought about working my way around the handle with a hammer and chisel (or probably a screwdriver) to gently split the handle away from the knot. Is it that simple, or does the glue make that approach difficult? Or would the knot simply start to come apart?

I doubt I would get permission to use our cook top to steam the knot out. There's a story that hasn't been told here where I nearly destroyed our stove and adjoining cabinetry during an unauthorized experiment. That was years ago, and I'm much wiser now. :p

Just looking for ideas before I decide to tear into a new boar brush. Thanks.
