Thanks Gary.....I was very happy with it. Doc Ezlovan's body washes are wonderful, but I can't buy another until next year(since I'm on NB). Course if I blow it, that's a horse of a different kettla fish. But I want to succeed.
Well, for me it is, because I consider it my "pre-shave prep". But I'll consider your thoughts on this. If the official NB rules clear me for Stoylin bodywash purchases, given how significant they are for my shaves, that would be real nice.
I felt the same way initially, Gary, but have found that OCD is a very positive trait with respect to honing. I was fortunate to have been a custom knife collector which grew out of my fishing and hunting. My father taught me to sharpen a knife, which honestly, in retrospect, is much more difficult than honing. The nice thing about honing a straight is that the angle is built in. It’s really not the big deal some make it out to be. Granted there’s definite skill involved, Slash McCoy publication of “the method” involving the use of lapping films and a very precise repetitive structure is the cheapest approach and works! It’s also transferable directly to water stones if one has an inclination in that direction. I was fortunate to have Ben who when he was mentoring me would say “remember how you set the bevel on a camp knife, well it’s much easier on a straight”. And that’s all I’m going to say about that!
Right....other bodywashes I buy at CVS with free shipping(just flip it onto the passenger seat and drive home)
very cool Jeff.i will keep an open mind on this as i enjoy polishing metal and putting edges on stuff.just never thought i would delve further into more older school shaving types.one day as they say..i tend to go in full deep when i start something..like my 60k in snap-on tools .900 model kits,70+ gillettes.6 cars, etc etc .i know my self pretty good.i would end up with a honing room in no time..so it's not on my to do list at present..
