I get one similar to yours as i build it like those instructions you posted some time ago..i have been using the vintage williams more lately though..
I get thicker/creamier lathers with the Vintage Williams. I do get very usable, semi-thick and stable lathers from the modern, but not as nice as from the vintage puck.
Same here . Depends on your water too I guess. The modern still gives me a nice lather though. Better than I'm getting from the Fat as in MWF.
Patrick, I'm right there with you on that stuff... I was stubborn and finished the puck anyway and it sounds like you're going to try doing the same.

My first Williams shave this morning- thanks to various videos online I was able to dial in a useable lather that was very slick - my face feels great I think I’ll use this more often as I love the scent. This was the soap my paternal grandfather used (even with handicapped hands) so it means a lot to have a nice first shave! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Monday January 11, 2021 Razor: Gillette Aluminum Tech (Made in England) Blade: Gillette Spoiler (1) Brush: Burma Shave Boar circa 1979 Soap: Tonsorial Williams AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70 AS 2: Vintage Aqua Velva Fragrance: Acqua Di Gio Profumo Today was another Gillette shave. As I said this was a gift from my Stepfather and had everything except the razor which he lost long ago. This was a gift to him when he turned 21 in England while stationed there with the Air Force in 1960, The best I could figure out researching was a Made in England Aluminum Tech would have been the standard fare they put into these sets that sold. So I decided to go all vintage except the Fragrance. Tonsorial Williams whipped up with my non-branded Burma Shave Boar brush bought by me back in 1979. Great lather and stupendous shave was had while giving the extra attention needed to get all the stray whiskers that try to hide from this mild shaver. Topped off with my Humphrey's, Vintage Aqua Velva and the Profumo. This was an enjoyable and refreshing shave to start the week and work. Have a Stellar day Everyone !!
