Switched up the razor for the week’s Gillette focus to this ball-end Old Type. I used to have a Single Ring as well, but moved it along as I found the head identical to this OT. It is a 'rare' OT in that the handle isn't cracked...it does have a chipped tooth, though. Anyway, loaded up a Rapira Stainless, which is a blade I have never used. I've had a few tucks in the drawer for a few years (got them from Neal after a failed NB bet...) and pulled them out for the Rapira focus. The shave soap is a local product made here that is now available from a few national vendors. It is alright, and I like supporting local, but it is nothing special. Apparently they are now making soaps with hand-rendered tallow they do themselves. I may try that someday.
3 passes later and everything worked as it should. I'm not completely smooth, but certainly good enough without any buffing. Finishing with the fave Cool was a good choice.

Third run of the Gillette focus.

Another nice shave with the focus combo. The Klenzo did an excellent job whipping up the Mitchell’s Wool Fat. The Feather is on its third shave and is still smooth. The pre-war Tech was a three pass joy this morning. Alum was quiet. Finished the shave with some Irish Chestnut by Andy Hilfiger.

Received the order correction from The Razor Company while away, the correct SV Desert Vetiver after shave. Originally ordered the SV Desert Vetiver set back on 12/16.

@MrEE's Green Machine and a damp T2 swirled on SV's 4.3 formula for 30 seconds.....mounds and mounds of slick lather fun. Thick, creamy and super dry vetiver aroma, awesome face feel. Up today is a birth quarter/year razor, the Gillette Slim Adjustable set on 9. Loaded with a Gillette Nacette, 3 easy irritation free passes to BBS. Compared to other more favored safety razors I have, vintage or modern, the Slim (set at 9) shaves with a narrow sweet spot, little blade feel or exposure. I can detect a smidge of blade flex as I shave, the TTO doors as tight as the handle clamping knob would allow. Finished with a palmful of SV's matching after shave. It's a clear slightly viscous liquid, almost a gel. Desert Vetiver is definitely a refined complex 'dry' vetiver fragrance, not much aroma sillage, stays close to the skin with decent longevity. Wifey Approved for this household.

TTO razors just aren’t my thing. I have a Slim and Fatboy, and they seldom see any runtime. I can’t really put into words why I don’t care for the TTO design. Maybe it’s the geometry? Whatever it is, I don’t get much enjoyment using them. It’s not that they can’t clamp a blade properly, and that I can’t get a good shave with one.

Nonetheless, after this run, I’d like to see this razor make its way into a home where it will be used and appreciated. The offer still stands for Paul @Paul Turner if he’s interested. If not, someone else will have a shot.

Yesterday’s schedule didn’t allow for a post, so yesterday and today will be combined into one.

I am pushing forward with this gear, hopefully finishing up this soap before TOO long.

The shave was fine. No missteps, luckily.

Beautiful noir silver gray image, Blair! Nice Slim shave! I still have two of my father’s adjustables, one of which is a Slim! I’m not a fan, but may shave with it before this focus ends.

Happy Hump Day everyone. I decided to break out the Mondial Boar and A&E Bad Habits. It has me a long time since I recall using either. I bought the Mondial boar brush after be successfully enabled by @Primotenore . Joseph was correct, this boar brush is fantastic. A&E Bad Habits is a take on Guerlain Habit Rouge. The scent is truly something special. Even SWMBO gave positive comments on the scent during the shave. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near BBS due to my error. A splash of the aftershave and a spritz of the EdT left me smooth shaven and smelling fabulous. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Excellent shave Bruce! I have a 55 RedTip and it does a decent job, but I have to buff a lot to get a near BBS or BBS.

One question answered after using the 46 - ?? Ranger Tech. These are the same razor and only differ by the handle. The second iteration which started in Jan. or Feb. of 48 is actually the first instance that the razor head was changed. End result close but no BBS cigar.

I may have to backtrack on these being the same after couple of hours later. The shave is still much closer than the 46 - ?? Ranger. The only thing that might be skewing that is when I used the Ranger I did it with a days growth, the super speed I shaved the day prior. I am going to skip today and use the razor again to confirm. If you are going to do a focus skipping days or not is a variable that I know can affect how well certain razors or blades will perform.

These menthol solutions are nice. I don’t know why I don’t use them more.

An unusual evening shave for me. Was running out of time this morning and decided to take a mulligan and combine 2 days to avoid a cookout penalty.

It is refreshing to call it a day clean shaven, maybe I’ll do it more.

Starting to see some irritation on the lower neck from the ATG work even using new blades. I’ll change up and stay WTG and XTG for a few.

So to start off today with the extra whisker growth due to yesterday's less than BBS shave I decided to put a wet towel in a glass bowl and heat it in the microwave. After wetting my face good I applied a TRUE HOT towel which felt great and I feel helped me get the whiskers softened more than what I normally get since I don't shave after a shower (Evening Shower guy here) I then went with for another 1st using Mitchell's Wool Fat for the first time ever............................................I know, I know, I know.ALL these years of shaving this way and I somehow never got to trying it. I will say I guess I have better than average water or I was chosen or whatever I didn't have any trouble getting a nice lather that produced the legendary slickness and Have the post shave feel of my skin I hear about as well. The scent is an amazing oak, vanilla almost like a bourbon..............................................NOPE, just kidding, it's soap scent but a great shave was had. Today I was back to using 50+ year old Gillette's for that focus this week on the 30DC Crew at TSD. For that I have my 1960 F4 Fatboy found at the Flea Market for $3 and $50 more to get it redone in Rhodium. Paired with a 2nd use Gillette Spoiler and the whiskers were virtually jumping out of their follicles in fear. Topped with the Humphrey's, Nivea Deep and hit some shots of Man in Black Essence and I'm ready to tackle the day or let the day tackle me. Have a Stupid Fun Day Everyone !!

Good morning guys!

It's a late post for this early morning shave.

1955 Gillette Red Tip
Rockwell DE Blade (?)
Semogue OC Super Badger Brush
Tabac Shave Stick
Clubman Classic AS
Dickenson's Unscented WH (not pictured)
Nivea for Men ASB (not pictured)

My Semogue Brush really did a great job making the lather, but I wish that it wouldn't be such a hog. The Tabac shave stick really produces a great lather. I don't have a problem with the scent. It is very masculine and it does not remind me of an old woman's purse. Yhe Red Tip doesn't make my top 3, but it is a decent razor. 2 passes gave me an in between smooth shave (IBSS).
Did my usual post shave of WH, ASB and funished with the AS. Have a good day guys!

Day 12 of the Electric Sheep single soap focus (SSF) and another Gillette TTO as the '64 Slim took the reigns today.
2+ passes with the razor set at #7 provided a comfortable and efficient shave this morning with no irritation or mishaps to report.
The 7 O'clock Green blade did just as fine a job as the other blades I've used this month. After one more use with it tomorrow, it will be time for another brand.
Although I use them infrequently, the aftershave balms have felt nice the past two days with the cold and breezy weather here in the ATL.

One question answered after using the 46 - ?? Ranger Tech. These are the same razor and only differ by the handle. The second iteration which started in Jan. or Feb. of 48 is actually the first instance that the razor head was changed. End result close but no BBS cigar.

Today I used, once again, the Fatboy, Tobac, Captain's Choice copper shave bowl, and custom brush. For a little extra detail about the Fatboy, it is date code E4, making it a last quarter of 1959 razor, if I understand the codes right. I had a perfect shave, no nicks or irritation. It Hass been very enjoyable using this combination this month.

Anywho ... since I haven't shaved since Saturday and its Wednesday now here I'm proud to announce I am way less scruffy and smell dang good. For some reason the Brut transports me back to when I was a kid watching my Dad shave and him splashing it on my cheeks.
Used the P1 Gillette TTO( not sure of its proper name...help me Gary)with a Rapira Platinum for a winning combination of sharp and smooth. The Williams lathered like a champ with my triple 9 made faux horsehair synthetic brush.

Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Nivea Deep
Fragrance: BVLGARI Man in Black Essence

So to start off today with the extra whisker growth due to yesterday's less than BBS shave I decided to put a wet towel in a glass bowl and heat it in the microwave. After wetting my face good I applied a TRUE HOT towel which felt great and I feel helped me get the whiskers softened more than what I normally get since I don't shave after a shower (Evening Shower guy here) I then went with for another 1st using Mitchell's Wool Fat for the first time ever............................................I know, I know, I know.ALL these years of shaving this way and I somehow never got to trying it. I will say I guess I have better than average water or I was chosen or whatever I didn't have any trouble getting a nice lather that produced the legendary slickness and Have the post shave feel of my skin I hear about as well. The scent is an amazing oak, vanilla almost like a bourbon..............................................NOPE, just kidding, it's soap scent but a great shave was had. Today I was back to using 50+ year old Gillette's for that focus this week on the 30DC Crew at TSD. For that I have my 1960 F4 Fatboy found at the Flea Market for $3 and $50 more to get it redone in Rhodium. Paired with a 2nd use Gillette Spoiler and the whiskers were virtually jumping out of their follicles in fear. Topped with the Humphrey's, Nivea Deep and hit some shots of Man in Black Essence and I'm ready to tackle the day or let the day tackle me. Have a Stupid Fun Day Everyone !!
