Ugh... I ache.
This has been one of those weeks that you're just glad to bring to an end... nothing has gone right, and I've been in a foul mood. I've been dealing with virii and various equipment failures at work, the local store was out of those burritos that I like, and things have just been more or less miserable. To top it all off, I've got some things weighing on me from a spiritual perspective, and that's dragging me down, too.
Well, for awhile now, we've had to keep a pitcher near the toilet to help it along when we flush... figuring it was the vent line, I've been waiting for the weather to be decent enough to get on the roof and snake the pipe. Finally got to it.
That wasn't it.
After some more careful examination, I've come to the conclusion that I need to have the septic tank drained. $220 if he digs it out, $185 if I uncover it. So this afternoon, it's shovel ahoy for this boy! It was kind of hard going, dealing with a few roots that had grown across the top of the tank, but I got most of it cleared. Well, at least as far as the 500 lb. concrete steps that are over top of one edge of the lid.
2 hours, 2 broken ropes, and a couple of mangled 2x4s later, I finally got the steps out of the way, just in time to run out of daylight and not finish the digging.
I fought, and pulled, and tugged, and swore, and lifted, and swore some more (just for good measure) until I was covered in cold sweat. When I finally came inside, I was so dizzy from hunger and fatigue that my wife had to help me stand.
Next time, I think I'll just pay the extra $40.
