I might be doing some den clearing for some shave soaps here soon I'll let ya'll know and you can pm me. I just ordered another new soap I have been wanting to try a while now, yes another dang soap. That soap happens to be tabac. Idk why I am so late to trying it. Anyway point is, my shave soap collection is starting to add up and I'm going to be throwing out some artisans. Pretty much the soaps I'll be giving away are almost full so there's plenty of lathering fun to last for months.

Good morning gents!

This is the last shave of the Gillette 50+ yr razor focus.

1968 Gillette Slim Adjustable (9)
Rockwell DE Blade (?)
Stirling Boar Brush
Stirling Bay Rum SS and AS
Dickenson's Unscented WH (not pictured)
Nivea for Men (not pictured)

Everything went well with this shave. I made a real, thick, voluminous and protective lather with the Stirling boar brush I happy to say that the brush didn't shed a bristle. 2 passes gave me an IBSS ++.
The blade is on its last legs so it will be binned. Did my usual post shave routine and the aftershave didn't burn too much which was a nice surprise. I do like the burn, but I will take this post shave feeling as well.

Fine shave this morning. 0:30 to load the Sir Hare soap(Tobacco&Sandalwood)onto the Crown King brush. It resulted in nice warm/hot lather. Good amount of soap coverage all around. 2.5 passes. All of Porcupine Alley was a success, save for a couple Knicks that were rather harmless. . Missed a couple spots down at Cactus Nation, but otherwise well done. Stoylin Gentleman A.S. for the finish. Good to see that the cold water rinse(prior to the Stoylin G.) helped knock out the Knicks, I suppose the Stoylin Gentleman might have been a factor in that, too. Super Duper Excellent.

 

SOTD SATURDAY MORNING, Day 7 Gillette Focus, JANUARY 16, 2020

I decided to finish my week long Gillette safety razor Focus with one of my two 1905 Single Rings. While not my favorite Gillette model, the News hold that honor, I've still managed decent shaves with this early Old Type safety razor, and have to say that the very slightly wider Kai DE blade definitely kicks the shave up a notch to borrow Emeril Lagasse’s expression. There was without doubt more blade feel than usual. The dolphin smooth noggin result reinforced my feelings about these Kai blades. I'm definitely becoming a fanboy! The A. Witte Copperhead’s 6/8 polished 12k Naniwa/Jasper stone edge is clearly seen in the photo, and definitely met the challenge of the prior Single Ring dome shave. Three passes left me with a velveteen smooth, refreshing finish which was topped off with my favorite Royall Lyme AS/Cologne Splash; the only scent my poor fragrance allergic bride can tolerate, if used infrequently.

RAZOR: A. Witte Copperhead 6/8 Solingen (Mug), Gillette Single Ring (Dome)
BLADE: Kai DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Aluminum Monster Tuxedo Synth
SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac. Finished with Royall Lyme AS/Cologne Splash.

January Rule

Won't bore you all with a lather shot. It was good and got the job done.
The fresh Gillette Platinum was sharp and left my skin intact.
Cleaned up the 'stache and the goat, so my chin is now exposed.
The R41 left it smooth and soft.
Finished with a really great SMN aftershave.
Patchouli.

Fuzzy I have all the Model C Auto Strops, with the exception of theVB1.

Good morning folks. Since lockdown I've been only shaving every second day and now I am halfway through my 30 Day Rule to use the same razor, blade & shave soap for the month of January. For the last two weeks I've been shaving with:

1954 Gillette flare tip
Shaverboy Blades
Wilkinson Boar brush
Wilkinson shave soap in the back tub
My choice of aftershave

For this mornings shave I chose the old Aqua Velva musk for the aftershave. I also have discovered the joys of lathering up the soap in a mug. I found this nice black mug in my cupboard and it does a nice job!




I must say today's shave was excellent using those Shaverboy blades! I did a quick 3 pass with a new blade and no cuts or razor burn. The Gillette flare tip razor is the bomb! I am learning to use a light touch on the razor and it's been very efficient.
