Outstanding generosity and mentoring, Dave! That young man will always have you to thank for making traditional shaving a part of his life.

Thanks Joseph. I'll plan to do a mid-month dashboard update as long this experiment continues. You know me, I don't like to brag or run things into the ground. :D

I wonder how long I can go without needing to replenish *something*. I'm set on everything, including multiple bottles of witch hazel and alum sticks. It's freeing not to feel compelled to look for new stuff. Even if I "win," I plan to "make good" with @jtspartan in some way. I could never receive his beautiful handcrafted items without doing something for him in return. In my hillbilly world, we're both going to win however things shake out. Kudos to him for playing along with all us NBers.

Hopefully, Jason and I will have a little fun at the end by using soaps that neither of us think we'll really enjoy for 30 shaves. Who knows? We may both be surprised.

In the meantime...well...mmm...you know...how do I say this?...there may be some trash talk. :happy088:

Thanks Andrew, I should say his wife has been trying to get him too for awhile. She uses a Weishi she got off Amazon so my wife gave her one of her Lady Gillette's. He's happy and she's happier that he started.

I am usually not too nosy, but is there a particular reason why you aren't posting your shaves here?

I am not offended Maestro. I like Glastonbury, but would I repurchase it again? There is a 50 % chance either way. It's not a must have scent for me.

I thought it was "OK"(it was one of my second Stoylin A.S. sample sets). Not sure I'd buy it.

I've never smelled the real deal either. Truthfully, I do enjoy fragrances and smelling nice, but I'm not a "fraghead" by any means. I am thankful, however, for all the education I have received from those that are "fragheads," especially within this 30DC group.
Up until the point when I started traditional shaving in 2017, I had never kept more than 1 or 2 bottles of an EdT in my cupboard and never used an aftershave. Boy have things changed. Some basic EdT's I remember having on hand "back in the day" were Nautica Classic and Hei by Alfred Sung. I knew nothing about scent pyramids or individual scent notes. I just knew they smelled good when I sprayed them on the little card in the store.

Don't get me wrong Paul! It is a nice scent but it doesn't pop out for me. In the beginning, I did not like it, but it grew on me. However, there are too many scents that I would prefer to really want to buy it again. Also, I recently bought Cella, Fine Platinum and Arko to replace it.

Andrew, Phoenix A..A. has a "scent chart" that covers most of their offerings. It's good to go by that, I feel.

I'm liking the Arkadia hand soap Doc Ezlovan flipped in with my recent order. Funny thing is, I wasn't that impressed at the description first time I read it. That might change now!!

Just from using the two Semogues I have, I concur with your thoughts.
I've been eyeing the Torga and Galahad brushes for some time now too.

The Galahad was an impulse purchase after reading a thread on DFS. I just loved the red color.

Thanks, Paul! I've looked through their scent chart several times. I was speaking more about understanding the scent compositions of colognes/perfumes.
Dougy's PAA scent chart just puts his products together in similar scent groups.

Sometimes, a soap maker's description will turn away a prospective purchaser, unless they are courageous to try it and get pleasantly surprised or not because the scent wasn't what they imagined. Now, I don't like earthy, dark scents, but I like citrus and cologne ones so I steer my choices in that direction.

Thanks, Clint! I'm going to give bowl lathering a try more often to see if it makes a difference with skin abrasion.

Thank you, Gary! Happy Saturday to you too.

Thanks, Joe! I'm just figuring things out as I go. ;)

    Thank you, Jeff! You too!

Thank you, Charlie! The wooden pestle that came with the bowl does reside in a kitchen drawer as I could not find a way to use it with a shave. :D I look forward to seeing if bowl lathering improves skin comfort.

Thank you, Blair! Before buying a scuttle, I wanted to see if I could make it work with what I had on hand. If I end up liking the warm lather, I may invest in a scuttle.

Thank you, Dave! After blowing off the dust on the bowl, I'm looking forward to using it for a change.

Thank you, Joe! I may have that song playing in the background for my last shave with ES. :D

Good luck to all of you. :happy088:
