lol excuse my french here, but he sounds like he might have been a scary ass DI, not the one I want chasing after me (nor any for that matter), course back then in Vietnam they'd code red you.
The use of sharper steel encourages the good practice of light touch. I’m far more likely to get a crummy shave using the tool of my Rule this month using a Personna on 4, than a new Feather. I consider the new Feather in this tool intuitive. I started with Feather DE blades and used them on my first 30 day rule. A ‘milder’ Derby will cut you just as easily as a Feather and teach that more pressure is good, which it isn’t. I’d recommend anyone with doubts about Feathers to use them in a Rule, as I did.
Start with partial shaves. Cheeks only north to south stopping before the jaw. Stretching the skin with your off hand and make one pass only then finish with your normal gear. Keep doing this until you feel comfortable at midday with your result. Then advance a little at a time. You can do this. One more thing, what ever blade type you choose, stick with it for a month. NO CHANGEUPS!
This is great. Thank you Mr. Cawtuh. When you say "finish with your normal gear" do you mean I should complete the first pass(neck)with my normal gear, then a "second" with same(to begin with, of course)?
Well I just made a purchase! But for hand soaps only. (Not good enough for shaving IMO). Brewed Coffee and Cedar Cabin, from ManHands Soaps. Stoylin's are less expensive, thus I'll get back to those when the MH runs out.
I've shaped 13 so far! I'll engrave them with my signature, an LE, and a number. I'm only making a max of 40 and right now I only have orders for 18...need to check my email to confirm that, but the #7 will have the coveted 007 on it. (It may not be coveted but we'll say it is.)
Thanks so much Charlie. Mr. Cawtuh just sent me some tips, too. ASs for the Stoylin Bodywash-a dilemma. I NEED Bodywash to not just clean my face, but set up the shave. I got away scot free with the Stoylin, ordering it before year's end. But I'd feel like robbing a bank using a "fancy" bodywash for the NB. I'll just buy a "casual" one(Nivea, Dial, etc). I guess "purchasing more blades" is safe, when I run out, of course. Isn't that a NB condition-you run out you get more?
Wise assessment. The benefits I earned in the military paid for one masters degree and most of a second. I likely could not have done it without the military. Chris - enjoying learning, whatever the subject
He was a very nice and enjoyable person to be around. He did not talk about his service much and I never pressed him. I am sure it affected him on multiple levels and I never wanted to bring it up. I just tried to treat like I would anybody else. We never know what some people have been through or what they are going through. Take care Myles.
The idea is to minimize the tendency to want to get it all at once. Start with minimal and advance as you are comfortable.
MONDAY January 18, 2021 Proraso Focus day 5/7 went for a much milder shave so tonight I brought out the 1946-47 Gillette aristocrat with it's final use on this Voskhod blade. instead of the typical 3 pass shave I went for 2 passes. If you recall from yesterday I finished the shave off with Aqua Velva ice blue before applying the proraso balm. This time I decided to go with the Old Spice Hawkridge aftershave. Unfortunately this one is not sold in US market rather the European market, but I managed to somehow scoop this aftershave up at a local store near me. It's not a bad scent but I wont miss it. I have another bottle of it in my den. Might consider throwing that in the Den clearing pif soon.
