Well, I just found out that our deck is going to be torn off on Monday and replaced over the next week or so. On the plus side, it needs replaced. On the negative side, I need to find out what needs to be done with the DirecTv dish.... It will cost at least $120 to reinstall the dish (they would do it for free if we were moving. However, it is just our deck) or we can switch to cable and spend about the same amount to cancel our internet service with Frontier.

    what a conundrum..

Okay, well, it's been a frustrating, non-eventful, downer of a day.

Starting with the dr. bill thing, it went downhill. Though, I must confess, I think I've uncovered the solution - they never had the courtesy or desire to inform me of the rest of the amount owed, so I guess they don't want it....Guess what, I find that mindset very easy to reciprocate, seeing as I don't wanna pay it :D
Wonder how they'll feel about $3 a month for awhile....

Got to Lowe's, apparently whoever booked the interview appointment got something mixed up...the PR lady wasn't ready to interview me - more accurately, my application isn't ready for interview, since I apparently screwed something up in the questionnaire part - you know, the silly questions where it gives a scenario and asks what you would do, like
"You're helping a customer when another one walks up to you. Do you:
    A) Turn your attention to them
    B) Inform them that you will help them as soon as you can
    C) Kick them in the nads repeatedly until they leave you alone"

Seeing as I answered "C" all across the test......I'm kidding. But apparently it didn't like my answer, and I have to wait until the 60 days from when I originally applied before it clears it and I can redo it......knowing me, probably with the same answers :ashamed001

Called about the phone call I got Saturday, there's nothing yet to be known for at least 2-3 weeks as to whether or not they replace that position, or how they'll do it if (most likely) they do.

Okay, I was ready to start letting go a little bit of then end of this rope, guess I gotta try to hold on a little longer

Spent the last two nights staying up late and reading fluff just more own enjoyment and mental recharge. Nathan Lowell's Solar Clipper Trader series (Only Quarter Share and Half Share are out on Kindle yet) and Thomas DePrima's Galaxy Unknown Book 6 Castle Vroman. Both series are set to have their next novel come out in April.

The Solar Clipper Trader series follows the tales of an ordinary out of luck young man and his coming of age and finding his spot in the universe among an ordinary merchant ship. No aliens, no save the galaxy moments, just the actual story of living in the close environment of a merchant space craft with a co-ed crew full of distraction girls. No nothing adult happens in the space ship.

In the Galaxy Unknown series, a young straight out of academy lieutenant shakes up the galactic alliance with a series of seeming coincidental lucky events and ends up being transformed into an ultimate distraction girl through genetic engineering when she is captured by raiders and made to be a pleasure slave. Of course she escapes and in contrast to the other series, she is the hero continually saving the alliance through her heroic actions. But hey, it is a good fluff read.

Oh well... yup.. I have been lazy. I keep looking at the stack of things that I should be doing, and I keep finding other lazy things to do instead.

OK, so I finally got a hold of a person who could actually give me a straight answer over at DirecTv. They won't charge us to reinstall the satellite after the deck work is done. They could, however, after we have a DVR die, we added a protection plan that will cover that charge. Woo Hoo..

I guess it is now time to get back on hold with the tech people at Frontier and find out why after almost a year, I still haven't received the modem upgrade or speed upgrades that we were supposed to get in July, August, November, and January when I called..

exactly, that's the price point most Android tablets should be shooting for, lower than the Apple offerings, more affordable. It makes the quantums controllers of the universe freak out when an Apple product is the cheapest in it's category :happy102

Sure, Apple makes most of it's money on accessories and apps for it's 'pods and 'pads, but if the others are going to compete, they've got to get the price right.

Yes, most of the Android tablets have much better specs than the original ipad, and marginally (if) better specs than the ipad 2, still most folks are gonna see the logo and be mesmerized.

Plus, Asus has a knack for offering lower prices with usually better specs on their machines anyway. My laptop was $200 less than the closest HP or Dell to it spec-wise, and it outperforms them significantly. So this may just be the one I jump on....someday......anyone need to buy a kidney?

Yup... wife has an ASUS netbook and when I built the computer she is now using, I put an Asus motherboard in it. I have been getting more impressed with their stuff in the last year or so.

I don't know that I need an Asus pad... but I will be watching what happens with the prices now.

All six computers I've built I've used Asus motherboards. I've even used a couple of Asus video cards with great results.
I've gotten several Asus-branded DVD drives too, but those are pretty generic anyway.

I don't know that I have often used the same mboard brand more than twice. Actually, I think that I did use a number of Asus boards back in the 90s... Edit - nope.. It was ASrocks.. not ASUS /edit. Odd.. I know I wouldn't go with Tyan or ECS or Elitegroup again. As I recall I had some issues with some of those boards. So far I am happy with this MSI board.

OK.. just finished a one hour call with Frontier. Lets see if we can get that platform changed this time...

I've read some good things about MSI, but I always stuck with Asus, I guess just kind of the "if it works, why change" attitude.

Hmmm..."Asus"....Micah, I'm going to text you a statement with Asus worked in there, see if we get an entry worthy of DYAC :D

Edit: Nope. It does autocorrect, but it changes "asus" to "ways".....maybe somebody with an iphone can try it

I'm perfectly happy with the MSI board in my current computer. Picked it up on clearance when Comp USA was closing. It was a desperately needed upgrade at the time.

why, oh why, do all headphone/earbuds/etc come with that oh-just-so-short cord? all are about 4 feet long, which would not be a problem if you're just sitting there not moving about.

I'm a little over six feet tall, so if my mp3 player is clipped at my waist, roughly half my height makes that about a 3 foot distance (just measured, a tic under 3 feet), so that gives approximately 1 foot of slack and wiggle room.

Looking at some behind the neck style 'phones, still has the same short-to-me 4 foot cord (actually, 3.94'), but with only the single cord configuration, it may work for me.

Sennheiser has some pretty cool ones that have fins that twist into the upper part of your ear to hold them in place, so no clips over the ears, and no band behind the neck, I just wonder how well they really hold.
