After reading Blair's review of WSP Mahogany I just had to pull it out and give it a go. As Blair said the soap does have a sweet almost vanilla note over a woody spicy base. Even my wife commented positively on the scent during the shave. The Thäter synthetic brush is not one of my favorites. I didn't realize the handle would be unfinished wood and I find it harder to splay than my CH2 synthetic. Even so, the brush did a wonderful job loading and lathering the WSP Mahogany. Three passes and touch ups caught the baby with ease. The razor is so light that I find myself adding pressure to get the results. Good thing I don't have a problem with irritation. A splash of Small Batch Shave Tonic "Winter Reserve" and I am to visit my Mom today. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Vintage Yardley shave soap was the headliner for today's shave production.
This old-time, no frills, triple-milled soap has not been improved upon---ever.
Today's soaps may have fancy stuff like Argon oil and shea butter with a dash of unicorn tears,
but, ladies and germs, as a protective barrier between skin and steel, they are not one iota better.
Superlative slick 'n shiny stuff was created with the assistance of The Duke.

Day two for the Feather blade and as expected, the smoothest shave in the life of this Japanese steel.
I wasn't going to shave to allow my skin to recover a bit, but I threw caution to the wind
and called a Hail Mary.
Touchdown.
Wonderful post-shave feel from the Yardley and I was even tempted to eschew...nyuk, nyuk, nyuk
the standard Witch Hazel clean up, but decided to get all soap residue off of the skin.
Once again, I used the Proraso ASB, coaxing the last droplets from the sample bottle.
As my smell du jour, I chose the CFG Midnight Stag, which, BTW, is the only CFG shave product
to still hold a place in Primo's shave den.
I have the strange urge to change the oil in my truck...

Prep: Warm shower:/ Original Source Tingly Mint & Tea Tree Shower Gel.

Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Pears ~ Lemon Flower Transparent Bar Soap + Nuage Menthol shaving Oil.
Brush: Wilkinson Sword Boar.
Face Lather.
Lather : Scottish Fine Shaving Soap.
Blade : Parker ~ Premium Platinum. (1)
Razor: Parker 94r.

Post:
Cold Water Face Rinse./Homemade (~Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Witch Hazel Mixture./ Brut Attraction Totale ASL./ Nivea Men Creme.

Another new shave set up to start the weekend...I haven't used my parker razors or the premium platinum blade for a while, so this week will be a parker razor & blade duo week...Starting off with the 94r ,which is a sturdy hefty efficient lady that hold's no prisoners to face stubble i was BBS after the 3rd pass but carried on with the pick up pass just for the sheer pleasure of the shave.

A enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups close comfortable /near BBS shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with small dollop of Nivea Men Creme.

My face & feeling smooth & smelling divine.

This was just an enjoyable shave from start to finish. The soap scent is strong and just one of my all time favorites. The soap is good as it was an Oleo soap base collaboration when Frank started but the Skin Food Splash is where it goes to another level. It's just so nourishing and restorative to the face. The Gibbs on setting 5 is a smooth shaver. Actually smooth all the way up the dial but being a daily shaver I always use 5 which is more than adequate. The Prada tops it all off like a cherry on top of an Ice Cream Sundae. I may not have a million bucks but I feel like it. Have a great day everyone !!!

My vintage Sheffield Henry Hobson 6/8 Wedge arrived yesterday. I do like the wooden hand carved scales. The seller advertised it as “shave ready”, and we’ve all learned the hard way that one man’s ‘shave ready’ is not necessarily another’s. Not in this case, however. An examination under the USB microscope revealed a mirror-polished bevel along the length of the blade. A reassuring note revealed the honing progression which ended at 12k, and that three layers of tape were used as this is a full wedge blade. A friend on one of the straight razor forums had been singing the praises of Ariana & Evans Shave Butter. It's described as unscented, but it does possess a bit of a ‘frou-frou’ flowery scent I could do without. It also arrived yesterday, so I decided, despite the unpleasant odor (YMMV), to take it for a spin this morning.

The shave butter is described as having a consistency midway between a croap and a cream, and I would agree. It bowl lathered nicely, and has an almost iridescent quality. The lather was thick and protective, and the scent which seemed apparent upon first opening the tub dissipated nicely leaving a very slick, relatively unscented, protective lather which I prefer for my shaves. The new-to-me Hobson cleanly and soundlessly swept away the mug lather. The blade was quite sharp and had no trouble cutting through my wiry “old man” mug whiskers in three easy one-handed passes. The dome shave featured Fine’s “World Finest SS Safety Razor”, a homage to Gillette’s New LC. It's an efficient razor, but frankly I prefer my Gillette original. I will admit that the post shave skin tone seems superb, and every bit as good as my regular MWF. I feel refreshed, clean and dolphin smooth.

I could not resist breaking out the potato peeler this morning and I am glad I did.

The Occam's Razor V1.0 is definitely a keeper. Three smooth passes with no drama....just a razor doing what it is supposed to do. The handle is unusual to use to begin with but it all begins to fall into place with no problems. The thicker safety bar on the V1.0 is not a problem for me because of my goatee and I don't have to shave the north of my upper lip. Overall a very enjoyable razor.

The potato peeler did receive a polish job last night but I left the center of the handle in its satin finish.

Take care gentlemen. We are out the door to get a few projects completed at the farm. I'll catch up later on this afternoon.

Joe, I'm going to give it another go in the morning. I would not mind doing either but if this razor does not shave right I don't feel comfortable passing it along. Jeff @jgreenepa shaved with it a couple of times and had issues with it but I think he attributed it to the razor being to light for him. I enjoy light weight razors and this one has me scratching my head. Take care.

I decided to change to my old bloom the soap method. The C-Mon is my 1A brush and I like it because of irs aesthetics and its great lathering performance. True to form, she gave me a beautiful, creamy, thick, slick lather. She still is a lather hog, but most dense knots are.
I decided to bring out the Henckel's today because it is awhile since I shaved with this beauty. It is one of my favorites and I should use it more often since it has my honed edge on it. This blade is uber sharp that I just needed to guide the blade with literally no pressure. I only needed two passes with very little pickups for a near BBS shave. Did get a weep on my mouth corner and one on my stache, but they disappeared with the cold water. Decided to hit them with the pen for good measure.
The post shave ritual was using the witch hazel, the balm and the aftershave, respectively. Since using the witchhazel, my skin is looking much better so that it will always be a part of my postshave regimen. Furthermore, my shave was so smooth that I received very little burn from the Stirling Bay Run aftershave.
This was truly an enjoyable and pleasant shave!

Just got em. And as far as everyone saying tabac smelling like an old lady's hand bag, I can see that but to me it smells more like a 20s barber shop. The scent is indeed very strong. Just based on how I feel about the fat boy, I think it needs to be dialed up to about a 4 or 5 for me anything less is too mild. Beautiful razor about to give it a run. The fat boy came with a pack of vintage hammer de blades, those will go to my uncle tho for his DE. Hopefully they retained their edge.
