GREAT ! Let me know what you find :happy088: Here are some pics of the tin the were in which has a compartment above it and below it. Blade holder has an old SE blade as well as an old wedge that has seen better days on the other side. Stropper has 2 patent dates, a 95 and 99

SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, JANUARY 24, 2021

Yesterday morning’s mug shave with the new-to-me H. Hobson Sheffield wedge was a delight. For this morning’s shave I selected my Thistle Cut 5/8, a visually unassuming vintage razor, and one of two I own at the recommendation of a Master Honer who feels the brand and the steel used in the blade represents one of the best values in vintage razors today. At his recommendation and the loan of my son’s Shapton progression I took the blade all the way to 30k. I then stropped it on 0.25 and 0.1 pasted linen and finished it on Horween leather. While yesterday’s mug shave was great, this little Thistle is in a whisker-meltin’ class by itself. Velveteen smooth after only two passes (WTG, ATG).

My dome shave yesterday featured Fine’s “World’s Finest SS Safety Razor”, an assertion I would take issue with. It represented an homage to the vintage Gillette New LC. Frankly, as I said yesterday, I prefer the original Gillette. My dome shaving selection for today was my favorite AC safety razor. I also own a Vector which is without doubt also an excellent razor, but can be a pain in the petoot with random blade sticking issues. The Colonial General V2 has a narrow head profile, not as exaggerated as the Vector’s, is a bit heavier, but more importantly, doesn’t suffer from the Vector’s random blade sticking issue. I usually use the Feather Super, but ran out, so I loaded a Feather Proguard, a blade I enjoy in my Feather DX. It delivered an excellent shave and left me feeling refreshed, clean, and dolphin smooth.

RAZOR: Thistle Cut Co. 5/8 (Mug), Colonial General V2 (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather Proguard AC
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: JR Boar #374
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum.

It's been a busy week, gentlemen. Life is good, but I admit I'm very tired of working from home.

I've been narrowing my rotation to. Few TTO's and my Rex Ambassador. Mainly because they live on a rack in my bathroom. The Rocket HD is a favorite for sure. I seem to get excellent results with it. Todays shave was a 2+ pass BBS which is more the norm now. Very light pressure following a practiced routine specific to my breard. I do tend to hit the troubles spots first and then do the whole face. It works.

I didn't get out to the shop much this week. 17 brushes are shaped and I'll shape 5 or 6 more early this week. Then I will setup for drilling, parting, and engraving, which should go much faster. Then they'll go in the tumbler for 12 hours. Anodizing will be interesting. I usually anodize one at a time which takes about 2 hours each. This time I'll be using a large tank which will let me anodize 5 or more at once. Should be fun.

    Have a great week everyone!

Great shave Jeff! By blade sticking issues do you mean when you're trying to remove the blade or during the shave? If when trying to remove the blade that's an issue I had and contacted Shane because there was an issue a year or so ago in production which had the pins making it difficult to remove the blade. I saw others exchange theirs but I always ran water over mine and had no issue until recently. After he exchanged for a different cap it's a breeze taking the blade off and on now compared to all this time I've had it. Just the thought if that's what you're referring to, have a great day!

I've had some beautiful shaves this month, with a lot of products to review and test out. The highlights of the month were definitely testing out the Yaqi Sagrada familia, and getting my first adjustable, a 1965 slim adjustable.

After one use I can already say that the slim is my new favourite razor, there's something absolutely beautiful about being able to change the feel of the shave at the twist of a knob.

This month's first shaves were with the bundubeard "mystery soap", and it's an absolutely fantastic soap. The full review on that will be coming out in the next week or so, but it's definitely a keeper.

It was also fantastic to be able to test out Yaqi South Africa's new glacial slickness cream (the prototype, the final product differs to the best of my knowledge).

    Shaves1-5:
    Razor- Gillette aristocrat
    Blade- polsilver super iridium (1-5)
    Soap- bundubeard mystery soap
    Brush: Yaqi Sagrada familia
    Aftershave- ambassador for men

    Shaves 6-9:
    Razor- Gillette aristocrat
    Blade- polsilver super iridium (6-9)
Cream- Yaqi SA glacial slickness prototype
    Brush: Yaqi Sagrada familia
    Aftershave- ambassador for men

    Shaves 11-14:
    Razor- Gillette aristocrat
    Blade- polsilver super iridium (11-14)
    Soap- Arko shave stick
    Brush: Yaqi Sagrada familia
    Aftershave- ambassador for men

    Shave 15:
    Razor- Gillette 1965 slim adjustable
    Blade- polsilver super iridium (15)

That’s exactly what I’m referring to. I also received the new cap, but after about 6 mos I have the same issue. Go figure! No biggie, it doesn’t happen all the time. Usually when I’m using a regular Feather. No problem with the Supers.
