January Rule Shave # 11

A 1+ pass shave last night before bed eradicated just over two days of growth for a remarkably close and comfortable shave. The SC loaded with a Feather blade rewards a light touch. With good skin stretching and a few careful touch-ups, I've conquered the trouble spots around my mouth and chin to routinely achieve BBS in those areas. I can also confidently shave ATG on my neck regardless of the amount of growth. Occasionally I will get a weeper there, so my technique to still has room for improvement.

The Tabac lather goes on pasty with a damp brush, and I usually add water several times by wetting the tips of the bristles. As I do, the lather continues to get slicker and more voluminous. I'll go back to the puck for soap and grab more water as needed during the shave to keep the lather at my preferred consistency.

I keep a "deodorant" applicator of alum on the sink and use it to continually coat my fingertips during the shave, and this helps with skin stretching. If I'm not continually using my off-hand to stretch, I'm being lazy and missing an opportunity to get better shave. Even making the funny faces, I can usually find some area of my skin to stretch. I admit that it looks hilarious at times. I'd never attempt shaving this way in public for fear of being cited for disturbing the peace. I also use alum as part of the post shave by applying it and leaving it on my face for a few minutes while I'm cleaning up.

The CC Bay Rum aftershave is on its last legs. I used a little AS last night, and throwing caution to the wind, I copiously reapplied it this morning along with some Aramis.

This has been a helpful rule for me. I'll continue through month-end and then join @Hembree and other rational men for a shavette/Tabac mini-focus next week.

No sunshine, but we should make it to 50 F today. It was warm enough to get out for a brisk walk in short pants, exposing more surface area to absorb immune system building Vitamin D. The house smells of Lasagna, and my Bride has informed me that we have two basketball games this evening. Life is good indeed.
