I opened my bottle of Aramis Tobacco Reserve for the first time this morning. I purchased it a few months ago. It was a blind buy based on Joseph's review and my enjoyment of Aramis. I've always been interested in trying one of the Aramis flankers (lifted that fraghead term from Basenotes :)), and I'm very happy with this one.

I gave it my usual two shots to the chest, and I immediately noticed an oriental/spicy opening. It has a fresher and more modern vibe than Aramis, and I was pleasantly surprised. After a couple of hours, I can pick out subtle notes of fresh pipe tobacco, spices, and faint, sweet vanilla. The projection is good, but not as strong as Aramis. It reminds me of a classic fragrance rocked by a college professor (Ph.D. in Political Science, tenured of course) with a neatly trimmed gray beard and horn-rimmed glasses, wearing lovingly worn khaki's, a gray wool herringbone tweed blazer, topped off with a snappy ascot and beret. In the classroom, he appears to lean left (not wanting to distance himself from the university faculty and administration), but in the evening over a couple of Manhattans, you'll be surprised to learn that he's quite the conservative. But wait! A retired hillbilly wearing short pants and a t-shirt in January could also rock this juice with style and aplomb.

It will be interesting to see if it has the same staying power as Aramis. More to come. In my simple rotation of three frags, it fills the spot nicely between TDH (modern) and Aramis (vintage) as a nice, casual transition fragrance. Bottom line, I love it,and I'd buy it again if it was available.

Thanks, Joseph, for the recommendation. It is an absolute winner!

I like them both; they’re both efficient shavers, but do prefer the adjustability of the Famex.

I have occasional tinnitus. White noise (fans and/or low volume background music) helps tremendously so far, haven't had to see a specialist. I have several Totally Wireless Earphones (TWE) using bluetooth 5.0 (for CD quality music or streaming) to choose from. I use one set at loud motorsport events, Sony WF-1000XM3, another option, Jabra Elite Active 75T for exercising & sleeping (stays in ear better than the Sony, doesn't interfere with pillow sleeping). I even have a third option for talking on the phone/drowning out household TV and/or conversations while working (an over the head Sennheiser Momentum 3 setup). Besides the shaving gear habit (now on hiatus for '21 purchases), the head-fi audio purchases are in remission as well. 2020 was a good year for this audio nerd/freak....

I've thought about looking into these, Flare Audio - Calm/Tinnitus Ear Pieces but haven't gotten to a point where my tinnitus is constant or overwhelming. Flare Audio's versions for tinnitus has gotten great reviews. I have some of their Flare Pro in ear canal phones, and they are awesome, I mainly use around the house when jamming, they are a little delicate for exercise or outside use.....

Many thanks for the kind offer, Jeff. I will politely decline in the spirit of not accumulating new stuff during my NB. :)

Pardon me while I step away to find a brown paper bag. I am hyperventilating. :happy097:

Great read, my minds' eye pictures both scenarios Charlie! I'm usually pretty warm natured, even described as a heater by the wife and daughters....but shorts and t-shirt in 50s in January is a bit much for me. In November when it happens here in Tx...no problem.
