Thanks Charlie. I went ahead and made reservations at the B&B you recommended. They still had your credit card information on file. Great folks and I hope you don't mind...I upgraded to the honeymoon suite. They definitely remembered you from the last stay......something about having to restock the ice cream multiple times. Thanks again for making my anniversary special.

Sounds good, Paul. I'd stick with the Astras for the first 30 shaves or so. No use introducing another variable (different blade) while you're learning. If you need some Astras, let me know. I'd be happy to send you a few.

Funny, they didn't skip my house. My razor arrived so at least I beat @jtspartan before he got his Karve :happy093:

That is certainly a diamond in the rough in my book. I do need to clearly establish my intent here though.

I have no interest in fame or fortune in this experiment. I don’t want to become known as anybody’s ‘go to’ guy for fixing razors.

Your being an experienced knife guy and having the benefit of a great offspring sharing common ground probably have had far less of a learning curve on edges than most.

One of the common statements I see on the lack of the use of straights by their owners is, negatively speaking; “all of the stropping and honing”

I wish I had a nickel for every minute of how to hone videos I watched. It is enough to make your head spin at times.

Along my journey, I found the proper use of convexed hones to simplify and improve ‘my’ results.

In the spirit of the Learn & Share history of the 30DC, I’d like to help out the guy who has pushed his straights aside because he just can’t find a way to get them to keep shaving like ‘so & so’ does.

I will take great joy in honing this piece if you would do me the service of shaving with it upon return and sharing (good or bad) your opinion.

If you get positive results, it might be a motivation for some renewed interest in our hobby, which I believe has experienced some decline in interest from the hay days of wetshaving.

I would be overjoyed if I could help anyone find the same happiness that I have found in a simple and repeatable fashion.

I’ll PM my address, if you are on board.

PS. I’d love to shave with one of your edges as well. Maybe there is interest in some sort of honing pass around some day.

That's awesome, Danny. You and your Bride will have a great time! Congrats again!

We laugh so much every time we stay at The Blue Mountain Mist, and we have made many friends there over the years. They're located on a family farm, all the touristy stuff is accessible via the back roads so you can avoid the traffic.

Another fun place to visit is https://www.smkw.com/ since you like sharp things. You can also take your Bride here for lunch and to get her weight in beans. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough beans in storage to weigh me.

Yeah, I know. I'm a romantic guy. I took my Bride to the bean museum. :)

It's all part of the fostering process. I have had almost thirty pups through my home over the last 10 years. Gromit was the only one who stayed. He was a special case. Never had a pup that young. When you're up night and day feeding them at four hour intervals you do build a quite a bond. ;) The others are always hard to say good-bye to, but I feel good knowing they're going to a safe place they can stay forever. Every adopter is told that they can always return the pup(s) to me if unforeseen circumstances occur. Hasn't happened yet. We pick good homes and follow up on them for two years. It's all part of the contract.

Thanks Danny! Pennsyltucky is OK. It's just those irrational Philadelphians that cause all the trouble.
Thanks Blair! No Vitamin D today, though. It's snowing now. :smiley freezing:
    Thanks Gary!
Thanks Joe. It's is definitely a winner.
    Good work, Joe!
Thanks Blair. Shorts and a t-shirt only work inside today. :)
Thanks again, Joseph, for the recommendation. I'm really happy with it. I am following your fragrance reviews with great interest.
I'm better now. It took 4 dips of Rocky Road to get things turned around.
That's good, Paul. You might consider a daily dosage of Rocky Road as preventive medicine.
