    Razor: Yaqi Top Aggressive Slant
    Blade: Wizamet (1)
    Brush: Rubberset 400/Cashmere
    Soap: PdP No. 63
    AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
    AS 2: Nivea Deep
    Fragrance: PdP No. 63 EdT

So the soap I didn't go with the Wholly Kaw and Brut I was planning as I watched a @wchnu Fuzzy video and it reminded me I haven't used my No. 63 in awhile and was craving it. The razor up was a Signature handle with the Yaqi Top Aggressive Slant that is touted as "The Most Aggressive" Yaqi Razor. Let me say that although I've been accused of liking aggressive razors I don't agree. I'm more a mid aggressive razor guy. I like effective razors that have rigidly held blades that don't have blade chatter/give. This I will say is NOT in my wheel house. The blade is NOT held rigid close to the edge and it has play for tough whiskers. Not getting into a macho contest here but it is what it is. This thing is a beast the requires a ride the cap approach (not a preference of mine) that still for me was not comfortable. At halfway thru the 1st (wtg) pass I considered bailing out of finishing with it but did continue with the xtg and atg with it. I had 3 spots that it grabbed me on the atg pass and needed a touch of styptic to address which it did quickly. That said I got a glass like smooth face finish but I feel raw even as I type this. Easy to have a glass smooth shave when you remove a few layers of epidermis. This isn't for me but glad I tried it for the $8.50 entry point and can say I been there and did that.......................I guess [IMG] Hope everyone has a great day and look forward to others thoughts in the thread discussing this on DFS since they appear to be arriving now in the states !! Anyone in the states that wants to try it from The Shave Den, let me know and we can pass it around to whoever wants to try it.

Happy Friday everyone. I am back on the Fat Friday train for this morning's shave. The Semogue mixed boar and badger brush is fantastic and punches well above its price point. The handle feels great in the hand and the knot has scrub, backbone and excellent flow through. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near BBS shave. My lower right neck proved to be my nemesis once again. Off to the office for at least a half day work on site. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

No thanks. I had an iKon Tech that was a beast. I have found out I like smooth and efficient razors.

SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, JANUARY 29, 2021

This morning’s mug and dome shaves featured the Diamond Hayashi Nichiri Tokusen (DHNT) 6/8 and my long neglected Valet Auto Strop VC4. The VC4 represents the tenth and final Auto Strop model in the line, and to Henry Gaisman, it’s architect, the culmination of 42 years of incremental improvements and the only safety bar design. Although a bit steam punk looking, it is without doubt one of my best dome shavers. When loaded with a freshly stropped Feather FAS-10 carbon steel blade, there is no superior head shaver. In fact I would class this morning’s shave kit as truly “epic” in the pure ‘Keithmaxian’ sense of the term.

For example, I’m developing a real affection for the A&E Shaving Butter/Post-Shave Serum combo in use over the last four shaves. My mug and noggin have never felt better. Although marketed as unscented, there is a slight flowery ‘frou-frou’ scent which rapidly dissipates in use. For you young fellers who enjoy scented soaps, this probably isn’t for you. But for those of us with 65 or more solar rotations under our belts, the skin tone benefits are dramatic and obvious. Complementing the entire kit is my MrEE knurled aluminum handled shave brush. It feels great in hand, and it’s hybrid knot easily handles both bowl and face lathers for dome and mug respectively.

Today’s sunny 22°F morning was the perfect time for a classic ice water shave. After my hot shower, the icy bowl lather felt great as I applied it to the dome. The Valet Auto Strop VC4 is a very well-balanced safety razor, and its freshly stropped carbon steel blade obliterated my dome stubble in two ATG passes with the Traveling Wilburys’ “Handle with Care” playing in the background leaving a delightfully soft, velveteen noggin surface in its wake. The icy lather definitely woke me up, and set the stage for what turned out to be a great three pass Japanese silver steel mug shave with the DHNT 6/8. There really isn’t anything better than a great dolphin smooth shave to set the tone for the rest of the day! Enjoy your morning and/or evening whisker reduction efforts, my shave brothers and sisters.

RAZOR: Diamond Hayashi Nichiri Tokusen 6/8 (Mug), Valet Auto Strop VC4 (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather FAS-10
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Knurled Aluminum Handle Hybrid Knot #007
    CREAM/CROAP: A&E Shaving Butter
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum.

I agree but I "Had to Know" for myself and it was a cheap entry point. Thought I'd share with anyone that may have felt the same. Cheers
