Sounds like the soap is a winner for you already, Joe. Is that EdT new? They are still being made by Chatillon Lux, right?

Very informative post and very generous of you to start a pass around with the razor, Dave. I'm with you- Aggressiveness/Efficiency still needs to be a functional, well-built too. Blade chatter/Loosely held? That's not aggressiveness, that's just bad design.

Yep, I'm familiar with them and actually prefer my Long Comb. Trust me that this is a COMPLETELY different bird. Not in the same category with those razors. Pictures can't capture the blade exposure/reveal, twist. torque or clamp point well at all. Chatter Central it is......

    friday shave
    1941 ranger tech
    kai
    simpson synthetic
    simpson unscented
    alt innsbruck

Good morning Gents..Thought i would try the Kai blade in a TTO ,the 1941 Ranger Tech.went with a nice slick Simpson unleaded lather, built with the Simpson synthetic.Check out that label placement..:D..Fine smooth bbs in 2+ passes.definitely felt a little more like a Rocket HD shave with the Kai blade..hard to tell, but very efficient.I have 25 Kai blades in stock from a recent purchase,I will use them from time to time, they are quite pricey compared to my Gillette russians. They will get special shave status like my 7 O clock blues,Sharp Stars and Sunekos..;)..Good splash of fabulously smelling Alt Innsbruck to finish..Awesome..Have a fine day everyone..

very cool,i didn't imagine there would be similarities,it being a slant should help with blade ridgidity..just more of a conversation topic to be honest..;)

Is this your first use of a Shavette, Danny? I can't remember. When I was learning to use my CJB Kami, Keith gave me some great advice after I filleted my cheek...start with no blade and get the technique down first. Keep everything else the same- lather, etc. That made a world of difference to me.

    January Focus
    [IMG]
AoS Sandalwood~~Culmak 92~~2011 Mühle R41/Feather~~Cremo Leather and Oud
Focus almost at an end with the R41/Feather combo.
Day 4 with the same blade and the difference between day 1 and today is astounding.

But first, in my ever-continuing quest to vacate all creams from my den, I went back to the AoS.
While the below picture may not appear to be a huge amount of lather,
rest assured, therein lies enough suds to shave a basketball team.
The Culmak 92 currently holds the position of largest knot in my den.
It also competes for my all-time favorite brush. Words cannot describe how wonderful this brush is.
Bountiful buffing with the R41/Feather and while I was successful in achieving a BBS shave,
it was not without a couple of weepers. It should be noted, that irritation was not an issue.
The "weeper" is, after all these years of shaving, an enigma. One would think that a weeper
would appear at the corner of the blade---not the center.
Is the blade slicing off a minuscule amount of skin---just enough to expose the
    capillary?
Cleaned up with the Dickinsons and the Proraso ASB.
Today's EdT is from a company not particularly known for aftershave/colognes: Cremo.
It came with a Nasomatto Duro, I picked up on Ebay, otherwise, I wouldn't have it.
Before I give it to my daughter's fiancé, I thought I would give it a trial.
While it is made up of aroma chemicals (for about $20, what else can you expect?)
they are well combined and the leather smells quite authentic. The "Oud", again
an aroma chemical, gives the leather a dirty feel. Not fecal, by any means.
This leather is from a leather jacket, which has been worn well, for about 30 years.
Mos def© not the scent of "rich, corinthian leather" **
    ** That'll date me. ;)

That is very interesting, Gary. I must say, I have never had any blade chatter with any of the LCs I have ('regular' LC and Goodwill) or with a prewar Tech, either.
