Seriously, it did kind of astonish me how the lines worked out on that picture--and it's a great way to dress up a picture of a badly pitted razor.

I'm going to be keeping my eyes open for a junk razor to repaint, now. I'm thinking black grill paint with some glow-in-the-dark highlights might look pretty darn slick.

I wonder if grill paint would work and keep the razor useable?

I wish I could afford a powder-coat set-up.

wow... very busy morning. I am only now logging in while I eat lunch.

I have to make a decision.. Would I rather have a netbook for my classroom or an iPad. I am really having a hard time trying to come up with needs for an iPad (16gb version). Any ideas? Yeah, I know the iPad costs more; however, is it more useful than the netbook? The netbook would probably be an Acer Aspire One D255.

 

I really like my emachines branded acer. I find it to be quite versatile. It's probably more versatile than the ipad, in that it's a bit more open for running different stuff on. That said, if you're going to just use it for a few dedicated tasks, the iPad can be pretty cool. Some things you need to ask yourself:

1. Will I be typing much--including web-browsing?
2. Will I be standing much while using it?
3. Do I want to be able to run the browser of my choice?
4. Do I need flash video (sites like youtube)?
5. Do I need to print?

If you need to type much on it, definitely get the netbook--a real keyboard is much preferable to a touch-screen keyboard.

If you'll be standing most of the time, then the iPad is a better fit, as you can cradle it in one arm and navigate it with the other hand much more easily than you can trying to hold a netbook and type on it.

The netbook is going to offer you more flexibility when it comes to browsers and other software.

As far as I know, the only way to watch youtube is using a special app on the ipad (this may have changed, but I'm still thinking you might have trouble accessing some video sites on an iPad).

I know I've seen workarounds for printing from an iPad, but really, who wants to have to deal with hacking that together, when it should be a fairly simple process?

There's my 2¢ anyway.

It should be noted that I am generally biased against mac products, but I kind of want an iPad in spite of myself.

 

Just went through my first interview in a long time. Man I suck at these things, my throat and mouth were as dry as the Sahara. Hopefully I didn't goof it up too bad.

 

A lot of what you wrote I have been considering already. However, as this is a book adoption freebie and I already will have two laptops in my classroom... the iPad allows me to do something that I don't already have.

I know it will be a hassle (to say the least) to have the school techs strip off windows 7 starter to put something that works with our network configuration. We will already be asking them to do that with an HP Probook.

Yeah... I know what you mean. I never thought I would have an iAnything and here one is being offered by the book company.

I know what you mean, but I have played with a few ipads, both 1 and 2, and, surprisingly, it's one iArrogant product I could see myself potentially purchasing, IF: it had flash. That's the main sticking point. I hate itunes, and that's the main reason I've never gotten an ipod of any flavor (the new, square nanos are kinda cool, I could see myself using one for workouts, but that fragging itunes....), but I could overlook that.
Still, no flash is a killer for me because there's several sites that I visit that use flash.
So, not worth it for me, but if it's "free", I might would say maybe....
