Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Pears Lemon ~ Flower Transparent Bar Soap + Nuage Menthol shaving Oil.
Brush: Omega 10051.
Face Lather.
Lather : Haslinger~ Schafmilch Shaving Soap.
Blade: Derby Premium. (3)
Razor: Merkur 37c.

My first early morning February shave.

The derby Premium/37c duo, matched together excellently mowing through my stubble with ease.

Another enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a small dollop of The RSCo SPF15 Anti-Ageing Moisturiser...A wonderful post shave for the winter elements.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.

So I have the WeckGem razor repaired and ready to go for this mornings shave as well as sticking with the SOCP soap. I may covert this 1508.5 into a moderate 3017 and use daily with a few exceptions here and there when needed for my sanity. We actually have doughnut hole break thru this morning.

The razor is easy to get the blade in and positioned. It has blade stops that protect from the corners of the blade. At first it feels light like I'm shaving with a toy but the cutting takes over and you realize it's not a toy but just a light razor (blade holder) At first I was also kinda being careful for fear the head would snap again as it arrived to me but in no time I was just gliding around and it was doing it's think. The epoxy was doing it's job now and the 2 pieces were one. It's easy to find the angle and is comfortable to maintain the angle. The shave is mild for a Gem blade and encouraged you to buff and chase the baby. It was caught with ease and I'm smooth and Velveteen as Jeff @jgreenepa would say. Topped off with the Citrus Musk again and CK One. While shaving and feeling how mild it was, I was thinking maybe I need the 3 dot instead of the 2. No worries there, the 2 did the job with comfort so why mess with a good thing. I'll give this a couple/few more shaves and then get it to the next pass participant. Have a great day Shavers !!!

Not much to say about today’s shave! Japanese Silver Steel really holds an edge, and the Tanifuji Airi 11/16, although small and dainty, is a true whisker melter! Two sessions on the pasted linen strops and one on leather to finish when combined with my regular three pass MWF protocol, resulted in a polished, almost shiny mug shave surface. The Japanese know how to make a straight razor. After lathering up the gourd, I grabbed my little Ronson safety razor, a deceptively head-heavy shaving tool fitted with a Schick Proline B-20 Injector blade, and blazed through my noggin stubble effortlessly. This little safety razor is remarkably efficient, and really delivered the velveteen goods. The Krampert’s Frostbite was the perfect counterpoint to the almost foot of snow deposited outside my window. I feel clean, velveteen smooth, and quite cool. Time to shovel in front of the garage and our front walkway.

I decided to sleep in an extra 30 minutes this morning since I felt like I needed the rest. With my well documented lack of patience, the new Arran Lochranza soap arrived yesterday and is up for its maiden voyage today. The soap itself is triple milled and is labeled as patchouli and anise scented. Reading the ingredient listing indicates citrus, peppermint and bay leaf among other oils added to the mix. The result is a well balanced bright earthy scent with a touch of spice in the background. I would rate the scent strength as 4 out of 10. The scent is present throughout the shave but will not interfere with the choice of aftershave or cologne. The container is resin made to look like stone and is a beast at over 500 grams. Luckily most of the weight is in the lid which makes loading easier. Enough already how does it work. The soap was very easy to whip into a rich slick lather. Residual slickness was good enough to buff trouble spots. For my first use I am impressed. The shave was an uneventful drama free BBS affair. A splash of Fine Green Vetiver and I am out the door. Another great Tabac shave this morning.

The Simpson T3 Trafalgar took no prisoners and whipped up some very nice Tabac.

Completed two passes with the Parker SRX on the cheeks and I left it at that. I just did not feel like pushing the SRX any further this morning. The the cheeks are getting easier so that is a plus.

Two passes with the Above the Tie Atlas with R1 plate was a smooth finish to the shave.

Alum was a touch warm and I throwed a splash of Witch Hazel on. Taking a lead from Joe @Trigger I brought out the Pinaud Clubman Aftershave Lotion to finish this baby off. My Clubman has been decanted into glass and has a nice powdery scent. I think it pairs nice with the Tabac. To all of y'all nay sayers this morning let's just go ahead get this out of the way..............

Slow and steady wins the race with this razor, and I'm glad you have the discipline to ease into a full mug shave. The blade corners will bite, especially on your neck where it is more difficult to maintain the proper blade angle. I'll shave with my SC shortly and get back to the SRX/Tabac focus tomorrow.

The sun's shining here, but the temps are not be predicted to get out of the 30s. I hope to get outside after the doctor's visit this afternoon. Have a good one in the great state of Alabama today!

Pulled out the FH as the Karve didn’t make it yesterday. Whipped up an ok lather, but I had to squeeze the knot out for a 3rd pass. For a noted overlatherer, that constitutes a fail. There is now a loonie-sized doughnut hole exposed- I’d guess somewhere around 12-14 shaves.
I had 3 smooth and efficient passes. Too bad there aren’t more of these razors out there to keep the price down for folks as they really are one of the great DEs of the past. Finished with the decent Canadian stink. This travel bottle is all I kept and to be honest, I don’t even remember decanting some into this before I included the big bottle in a trade. I do know I mbombed and glycerined the big bottle. It needed more ‘polar’.
PS- got a new phone last month and I swear the camera picks up more than my eyes can see. I wiped the razor, yet I see dust. Yeesh.

Like our friend, Clint, I received a new soap yesterday and decided it needed a testing.
This one is Machrie by Arran, a manufacturer in Scotland.
"Machrie (Scottish Gaelic: Am Machaire) is a village on the Isle of Arran in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland.
Machrie Bay can be found on the West Coast. The village is within the parish of Kilmory."
"The word "machrie" is derived from the Gaelic "machair," which refers to the rugged salt grass links
on which traditional Scottish golf courses are laid out."

I would concur with Clint, regarding the scent strength, which I would rate a 2.5/5
Personally, that's about exactly where I want my soaps. I am eschewing strongly-scented soaps,
in favor of soaps, that when I rinse and clean my face with Witch Hazel, the scent is gone.
First and foremost, and Charlie, you can add this to Primo's list of dislikes:
The Puck flops in the bowl.
Nope, ain't gonna happen, so, (comma) I grated the already triple-milled soap
and pressed it back into the composite bowl (not real stone) utilizing my 58mm Rancilio Espresso tamper.
Aaahhhh....much better.
While a full-blown bloom was not necessary, I did wet the puck; poured off the H2O and showered.
With the able assistance of my Simpson Astor, I created some darn-fine lather for the maiden shave.

As you can see, there is a lovely shine.

The scent, I would describe as "Blue". Very similar to the old B&M Oceania.
Blue, salty water, sandy beach, sunny sky.
If, this were a post-shave fragrance, I would leave it on the shelf until late spring/summer.
Lathering does remind me of the latest iteration of Floris 89, BUT, without the drying aspect.
Good protection and above-average slickness. The W&B had no problems during the shave.
The soap rinses fairy cleanly and I can't comment on post-shave, because I de-soap my face thoroughly.
Today's scent is a wonderful, woody, aromatic, heady creation from Nasomatto.

In for February....absolutely AWESOME intro Maestro @Primotenore! Been a very busy past few days, between family obligations and getting ready for the '21 motorsport season that's already started here down here in North Texas. Vehicle maintenance being the most time consuming, tearing out a slightly leaky radiator.....installing new unit as well as it's plumbing in the Beast, also in the process of replumbing the transmission cooling system (fixing an unexperienced tech's mistake). Some time spent installing sound improvement goodies for all the miles ahead. Just a bunch of simple stuff .

Yesterday was a skip day, no use getting all fancied up when knee deep in grunge tooling under/around a work truck. Today was some older gear, felt like new again though. I should've re-mailed to myself to complete the bond . Hit the circle of death on the Castle Forbes, it'll be a deep sixer project for awhile. Jayaruh's spalted wood handle loaded with the synthetic knot whipped up an incredible Castle Forbes lather, thick, slick and super lime exploding fragrance throughout two passes. Super smooth results from the Enoch V1.0 (-bar), 2 slight weepers, one from a set down issue, the other from the ATG stroke on the lower right neck with too much pressure removing precious epidermis. Nothing worrisome from either crimson spillage, easily dispatched with PAA's after shave balm. Finished with another oldie but a goodie, Pinaud's Citrus Lime Musk. It got wifey's ok for the day, and that's the bonus.

BFH safety razors are truly great shavers, Jason. I shaved my dome with mine yesterday. I’ve sold most of my modern artisan safety razors. The BFH, Gillette New LC, Eclipse Red Ring, and my Shake Sharps are all totally awesome shavers. My modern Artisan offerings that I’ve kept all shave well, but none better than the latter!

Prep: Warm shower:/Asda Tingly Mint & Tea Tree Shower Gel.

Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Pears Lemon ~ Flower Transparent Bar Soap + Nuage Menthol shaving Oil.
Brush: Omega 10051.
Face Lather.
Lather : Haslinger~ Schafmilch Shaving Soap.
Blade: Derby Premium. (3)
Razor: Merkur 37c.

Post:
Cold Water Face Rinse./Homemade (~Winter mix~) Lavender + Tea Tree Oil Witch Hazel Mixture./ Brut ~ Attraction Totale ASL. / The Real Shaving Co ~ SPF15 Anti-Ageing Moisturiser.

My first early morning February shave.

The derby Premium/37c duo, matched together excellently mowing through my stubble with ease.

Another enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a small dollop of The RSCo SPF15 Anti-Ageing Moisturiser...A wonderful post shave for the winter elements.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.

So I have the WeckGem razor repaired and ready to go for this mornings shave as well as sticking with the SOCP soap. I may covert this 1508.5 into a moderate 3017 and use daily with a few exceptions here and there when needed for my sanity. We actually have doughnut hole break thru this morning.

The razor is easy to get the blade in and positioned. It has blade stops that protect from the corners of the blade. At first it feels light like I'm shaving with a toy but the cutting takes over and you realize it's not a toy but just a light razor (blade holder) At first I was also kinda being careful for fear the head would snap again as it arrived to me but in no time I was just gliding around and it was doing it's think. The epoxy was doing it's job now and the 2 pieces were one. It's easy to find the angle and is comfortable to maintain the angle. The shave is mild for a Gem blade and encouraged you to buff and chase the baby. It was caught with ease and I'm smooth and Velveteen as Jeff @jgreenepa would say. Topped off with the Citrus Musk again and CK One. While shaving and feeling how mild it was, I was thinking maybe I need the 3 dot instead of the 2. No worries there, the 2 did the job with comfort so why mess with a good thing. I'll give this a couple/few more shaves and then get it to the next pass participant. Have a great day Shavers !!!

A great review of the shaver, Dave. You are moving up the pace on that soap? Should be gone in no time, although I am amazed how long they last after the doughnut hole appears.

SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 2, 2021

Not much to say about today’s shave! Japanese Silver Steel really holds an edge, and the Tanifuji Airi 11/16, although small and dainty, is a true whisker melter! Two sessions on the pasted linen strops and one on leather to finish when combined with my regular three pass MWF protocol, resulted in a polished, almost shiny mug shave surface. The Japanese know how to make a straight razor. After lathering up the gourd, I grabbed my little Ronson safety razor, a deceptively head-heavy shaving tool fitted with a Schick Proline B-20 Injector blade, and blazed through my noggin stubble effortlessly. This little safety razor is remarkably efficient, and really delivered the velveteen goods. The Krampert’s Frostbite was the perfect counterpoint to the almost foot of snow deposited outside my window. I feel clean, velveteen smooth, and quite cool. Time to shovel in front of the garage and our front walkway.

RAZOR: Tanifuji Airi 11/16 (Mug), Ronson Safety Razor (Dome)

PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil

I decided to sleep in an extra 30 minutes this morning since I felt like I needed the rest. With my well documented lack of patience, the new Arran Lochranza soap arrived yesterday and is up for its maiden voyage today. The soap itself is triple milled and is labeled as patchouli and anise scented. Reading the ingredient listing indicates citrus, peppermint and bay leaf among other oils added to the mix. The result is a well balanced bright earthy scent with a touch of spice in the background. I would rate the scent strength as 4 out of 10. The scent is present throughout the shave but will not interfere with the choice of aftershave or cologne. The container is resin made to look like stone and is a beast at over 500 grams. Luckily most of the weight is in the lid which makes loading easier. Enough already how does it work. The soap was very easy to whip into a rich slick lather. Residual slickness was good enough to buff trouble spots. For my first use I am impressed. The shave was an uneventful drama free BBS affair. A splash of Fine Green Vetiver and I am out the door. Like our friend, Clint, I received a new soap yesterday and decided it needed a testing.
This one is Machrie by Arran, a manufacturer in Scotland.
"Machrie (Scottish Gaelic: Am Machaire) is a village on the Isle of Arran in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland.
Machrie Bay can be found on the West Coast. The village is within the parish of Kilmory."
"The word "machrie" is derived from the Gaelic "machair," which refers to the rugged salt grass links
on which traditional Scottish golf courses are laid out."

I would concur with Clint, regarding the scent strength, which I would rate a 2.5/5
Personally, that's about exactly where I want my soaps. I am eschewing strongly-scented soaps,
in favor of soaps, that when I rinse and clean my face with Witch Hazel, the scent is gone.
First and foremost, and Charlie, you can add this to Primo's list of dislikes:
The Puck flops in the bowl.
Nope, ain't gonna happen, so, (comma) I grated the already triple-milled soap
and pressed it back into the composite bowl (not real stone) utilizing my 58mm Rancilio Espresso tamper.
Aaahhhh....much better.
While a full-blown bloom was not necessary, I did wet the puck; poured off the H2O and showered.
With the able assistance of my Simpson Astor, I created some darn-fine lather for the maiden shave.

As you can see, there is a lovely shine.

The scent, I would describe as "Blue". Very similar to the old B&M Oceania.
Blue, salty water, sandy beach, sunny sky.
If, this were a post-shave fragrance, I would leave it on the shelf until late spring/summer.
Lathering does remind me of the latest iteration of Floris 89, BUT, without the drying aspect.
Good protection and above-average slickness. The W&B had no problems during the shave.
The soap rinses fairy cleanly and I can't comment on post-shave, because I de-soap my face thoroughly.
Today's scent is a wonderful, woody, aromatic, heady creation from Nasomatto.

In for February....absolutely AWESOME intro Maestro @Primotenore! Been a very busy past few days, between family obligations and getting ready for the '21 motorsport season that's already started here down here in North Texas. Vehicle maintenance being the most time consuming, tearing out a slightly leaky radiator.....installing new unit as well as it's plumbing in the Beast, also in the process of replumbing the transmission cooling system (fixing an unexperienced tech's mistake). Some time spent installing sound improvement goodies for all the miles ahead. Just a bunch of simple stuff .

Yesterday was a skip day, no use getting all fancied up when knee deep in grunge tooling under/around a work truck. Today was some older gear, felt like new again though. I should've re-mailed to myself to complete the bond . Hit the circle of death on the Castle Forbes, it'll be a deep sixer project for awhile. Jayaruh's spalted wood handle loaded with the synthetic knot whipped up an incredible Castle Forbes lather, thick, slick and super lime exploding fragrance throughout two passes. Super smooth results from the Enoch V1.0 (-bar), 2 slight weepers, one from a set down issue, the other from the ATG stroke on the lower right neck with too much pressure removing precious epidermis. Nothing worrisome from either crimson spillage, easily dispatched with PAA's after shave balm. Finished with another oldie but a goodie, Pinaud's Citrus Lime Musk. It got wifey's ok for the day, and that's the bonus.

That Castle Forbes Lime is just a great product, Blair. I don't use it as often in the winter, but I should.

good morning gents,vintage shave today ..love my old victor coffe mug,but guess what fit perfectly inside,yup you know it,the nice clean canadian williams tonsorial pucks....in they went..no trimming,perfect fit..will get another mug...
up today was the mid 40s brit new rfb 2 piece,this one is one of the last and has the creased tech design cap.loaded with a platinum,second go..
barbershop lather needs a barbershop brush,so the rubberset 200-3/omega pro boar fit the bill nicely..fabulous lather exploded off of the nice light tan williams puck..
light tallowy scent,very very slick..zero dissipation.
2+ smooth passes got me a smooth bbs,usual procedure.no issues,.
what's needed to cap a fine shave?.50s vintage canadian old spice of course..liberal splash and whoa..Awesome..beyond the blade it doesn't get more old school..cheers Grandad..
