Ya I have a cheap Toro trimmer that's still kicking...

I have a push mower too. It's more rewarding I think :) Or at least that's what I tell myself :happy102

I'm telling you; Craigslist. Price your ad on the less expensive side, and then put something like 'Rates may increase based on yard size or difficulty of mowing area'. When you show up, give them a higher rate. :ashamed001 I also give discounts to veterans, students, teachers, and seniors.

Somewhat surprisingly, I've never gone to Craigslist, ever.
Not even sure anyone around here knows about it :D

I'm telling you, if Wal-Mart wasn't open 24 hours, they'd roll up the sidewalks around here at 9:00 :happy097

Still, I may give it a go this evening

I would recommend it. It only takes a few minutes and it might earn you a few customers. I also made a little flyer I can hand out to people...ask around your church or place of business. I also have been doing a few jobs for houses that are for sale and the sellers don't have time to keep the lawn looking nice. Drive around and take down numbers when you see them. Give 'em a call and just tell them you can offer to mow their lawn

Amen! This is exactly why I'm researching scythes. I'm tired of hurting myself trying to get a strimmer to work.

I saw an old non-powered push mower the other day in a local flea-market for $50. I looked like a little cleaning and maybe some gentle sharpening, and it'd be ready for action. I very nearly bought it, but 3 acres is a lot to push-mow, and I usually go so far between mowings that I don't think those old push-mowers are suited for very tall grass.

You'll be surprised at how many use craigslist around here. At least in the Texarkana area. My brother frequents it with gusto.

I've been seriously considering one of those. My grandfather in Mobile has one, I remember messing with it when I was younger, and being surprised at how well it works.
I've seen some at Lowe's-Depot (just get both out of the way in one whack :D) for like $200, even with a bagger option, I believe. Way too rich for my blood, even $50 is right now, but it's much more reasonable.

Yeah, I figured TXK would be pretty active, but I would've been highly surprised to find more than 10-15 around here. Guess I oughta check it out....maybe.

Wonder if there's an Android app for it....
EDIT: There are many, not sure if there's an official one or not, though

On an Android note, wish Jason would come back around, I see him post about once a month on facebook, but that's it.
I know he likes the tough Casio cell phones, I saw a few days ago they have an Android Gz'One Commando coming out today, I think.

Shuttle launch just got scrubbed until at least Sunday.

Yeup. A college buddy of mine has been to the last 3 or 4 launches, tweets the heck out of all his trips, had to miss the last one due the delays, I don't think he'll leave early for this one.

On another note, I just noticed that the Saints got Mark Ingram....holy cow I'm stoked!
I was thinking last year how awesome, but highly unlikely, for them to get him, but it worked out. Too bad they couldn't get Julio Jones, too :D

I can't believe that the Vikings picked up a QB. You mean they don't want to beg Favre back again?

It will be interesting to see what happens with all these big name rookies if there isn't a season and then another draft happens. Maybe they can start trading off college rings and memorabilia to pay for their tattooing needs.. Oh wait...

DO IT! It's the perfect time to do it.

If you advertise it, play it off like "Enjoy more of your summer and let someone else take care of your yard for you!" Works like a charm

One of the ladies that emailed me said she lives on a double lot...extra work, but extra $$$$$

Plus, another benefit from this, is word of mouth. Someone who is happy with your service will tell 5 friends about it...and before you know it, your Saturday will be packed with mows. Good luck man  I'm wondering if I bit off more than I can chew! MY lawn needs mowed but I'm too busy doing other peoples! :happy102

I must say that it is probably more enjoyable work than the kids that go around and have dog clean up service. :sick007

There are several crews in my town that do lawns and the market is saturated. So that won't work here. As a result, there are kids that do dog doo doo work.

    [Obligatory] Sounds like a crappy job[/obligatory] :D

There's several crews around here too, but I don't know how saturated it is, or how much they charge, but surely there's a niche for a clean, old-school shaved lawn mowers somewhere :D

"See the care and precision I put into my shave? Now imagine your yard"
(XTG and ATG passes extra) :happy097

you know, that topic sounds familiar, didn't we discuss such nonsense across the street, Micah and Justin?

Hey! I know a guy who does great work, you should hire him to do your yard work! You know, enjoy your summer more, and whatnot...

I believe there was a "you might be a wetshaver if" thread of some sort over there.
