My Zune is starting to act up. Yesterday on the way home I hooked it up, decided I wanted music instead of podcasts, went to random, it started playing a song, I wasn't interested, so I clicked next.

The music stopped as the song title changed, and a pause...nothing out of the ordinary, particularly with a hard-drive based player, it's fairly common.
But it was longer than a second. In fact, it was about 2 minutes before it ever started playing again, but was fine the rest of the way home.

Chalked it up to odd occurrence. Maybe it couldn't handle the Fourth?

Flash forward this morning. Get headed down the road, decide to hit play...nothing. Stuck on the random song list.

Still nothing. I've tried several reset/restart techniques, currently have it plugged into my computer, still nothing.

As I read earlier looking up this issue to see how common it is, one user put it "I am now the proud owner of a fully functioning glowing black screen."

Uggh. I hate to say it, but...."What else can happen now?"

EDIT: I don't even have fully functioning glowing black screen anymore....

I wonder what he is going to use to 'shop the brownies when cooked.

 

Update: My Zune finally decided to come back on, and so far has been freeze-free for the past 20 minutes or so, so maybe it'll be okay....


On another note, just got another phone call. They want an application filled out.
Makes me feel good that my highly under-qualified resume went beyond "considered" to "we may want to talk to you".
However, I still have no idea of approximate payscale.
I've said it before, I continue to stand on it: I don't make decisions based purely on price/pay. Certainly it's a major factor, but not the only factor, nor the biggest. However, there's no way I can even consider it if it doesn't pay at least enough to A) cover the added fuel cost for the extra 20 miles round trip, and B) keep me from having to pick up a part time job.
So, I have no idea what to make of this, other than the fact that I can go ahead and go through the process and see how my skills stack up outside the education environment. That would at least give me direction to go on future training and stuff.

Time to buckle in for the ride, I reckon

 

Don't forget that you have value in a new environment from the simply fact that you'll have a new perspective and different experience base that will allow you to see a solutions that others would miss. Always happens to some degree when switching environments/industries. This was a key part of me landing my current position.

Good point. However, the funny thing is, (and I'm about to give away a spoiler to someone at this point, but it's okay now since the position is publicly listed now ), the person that called me and informed me of the "possible position open" was a former boss, who also had been in the education part of IT
But, from what I gather, this position is actually more of a helpdesk type of position (kinda cringe at that idea), so I wouldn't actually be working with him directly.
I'm fortunate in that I'm not in need of this position, so I can take it a bit more relaxed, and if it works, it works, if it don't, it don't. I'm more than happy where I'm at, very comfortable and like what I do, so I'm at no loss if nothing comes of this new thing......but on the flip side, Texas school's are in a heap of trouble state-wide, financially, especially us smaller districts, so who knows.

 

I could think of worse places to work.
